TIP:  You can also drag over the eyeball icons to turn them on or drag over the area they appear and the eyeball icons will reappear making the layer visible.

How do you change the OPACITY of a layer?

Change the OPACITY percentage

TIP: With the layer selected, hitting a number key on numeric keypad will set the percentage of opacity (0 zero will set the opacity to 100%)
