Describe the differences among solutions, colloids, and suspensions.

They are different types of mixtures. A solution, such as salt water, has the same properties throughout and contains solute particles that are too small to see. A suspension, such as pepper floating in water, does not have the same properties throughout and contains particles that are large enough to see. A colloid, such as milk, contains particles that are larger than the particles in a solution but smaller than the particles in a suspension. The colloid are still too small to be seen easily, but are large enough to scatter a light beam.
