What are the main parts of a plant?
Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flower, Seeds
100
What is a plant lifecycle?
The process that a living thing goes through to grow and produce living things of the same kind.
100
What are the basic needs of a plant?
Air, water, light, warmth, space, nutrients

Carrots
Roots

What is oxygen?
A gas that plants give away... the air we breathe!
200
How do the roots help a plant?
Roots hold a plant in the ground and absorb water and nutrients from the soil.
200
What does germination mean?
It means to begin to sprout or to grow.
200
Why do plants need space?
They need room to grow and they all need some sun on them. A plant in the middle of other plants will not get enough sun. Their roots can get tangled up too.

Lettuce, Kale, Mint
Leaves
200
What is carbon dioxide?
A gas that is used to make food by plants.
300
What is important about the stem?
The stem holds the plant up and carries nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant.
300
Are all plant lifecycles the same? Explain.
No, they are not all the same.
300
Explain how you would take care of a plant from a seed into growth.
Water the plant, put it in the sun, put it outside...

Brocolli, Cauliflower
Flower

How are plants useful to humans?
Food, decorations, medicines...
400
What do the leaves do for the plant?
Leaves make food for the plant.
400
Explain the lifecycle that our plants have gone through.
Seed, seeding/sprout, young adult, mature adult
400
What is the difference between living and non-living things?
All living things need energy and water to grow and change. Non-living things do not grow and do not need energy.

Imagine all of the trees died in a large area of a forest. Why do you think the trees died? Think of 2 good reasons.
Not enough rainfall, space to grow, not enough sunlight...
500
What is Chlorophyll?
The green chemical found in plant leaves that trap energy from the sun.
500
What are the 6 stages of a Pumpkin Lifecycle? Briefly explain each one.
Seed, Sprout, Vine, Flower, Green Pumpkin, Orange Pumpkin
500
How do plants get their energy from the sun? Explain.
The process of photosynthesis. The sun gives off light and the light is absorbed by the chlorophyll in the plant. Water is collected from the roots and comes together with the light from the sun. The light seperates the water molecules into H2 and 02. CO2 is also absorbed into the plant. The H2 and CO2 come together to make sugar for the plant.
