What is a plate boundary?
forces that help to build up Earth's landforms
What are constructive forces?
a rock formed from the cooling and hardening of lava or magma
What is an igneous rock?
the layer of Earth that's about 1,000oC
What is the mantle?
they move slowly around Earth's surface over millions of years
What are "plates" or the lithosphere?
the release of magma from the mantle at plate boundaries
What are volcanoes?
forces which destroy Earth's features and landforms

What is a sedimentary rock?
The layer of Earth which is the hottest
What is the inner core?
the "plates" or lithosphere float over this
What is the asthenosphere?
the release of energy as plates move, especially when they have been stuck together for a long time and suddenly break free
What are earthquakes?
force of wind and erosion which slowly makes a beach smaller
What is a destructive force?
a rock that can be composed of many different rocks which form through heat and pressure under Earth's surface.
What is a metamorphic rock?
the layer of Earth which is made up of solid iron
What is the inner core?
the movement in the mantle in which rocks are heated by the earth's core, rise through the mantle, cool, then sink again
What are convection currents?
when plates separate allowing lava from the mantle to escape and cool, becoming denser and pushing the plates further apart
What is slab-push?
When rocks cool and harden slowly, these have a chance to grow or develop in the rock
What are crystals?
The layer of Earth which makes up part of the lithosphere
What is the mantle?
thin and dense crust which is the heaviest
What is the oceanic crust?
the region where most of Earth's volcanoes and earthquakes occur
What is the Ring of Fire?
