Towards the middle of the film it shows an encounter between Bud Martin and his girlfriend Margaret and Whitey with another friend of his when Whitey drives up and asks about their absence at the town meeting which soon after he asserts his assumption of, "Maybe it was because you were to busy entertaining your colored girlfriend".
