In Fahrenheit and Pleasntville we learn that they do not use this item. In Fahrenheit these items are burned and in Pleasntville they're empty, and than burned during the riots.
What is books?
In the courtroom Bud helps his father realize he isn't missing just the home cooked meals from his wife that he misses. Bud suggests that his father is also missing his wife.
What is emotions?
After Jennifer and David break the TV remote, a repairman shows up right after fixing it. The repairman later tells David the remote will put him in the show, after questioning David about Pleasntville.
What is foreshadow?
The characters Jonas and David are very similar when it comes to the way they think. They have a deeper understanding when it comes to certain words. This word is not used to show affection to others.

In Fahrenheit firemen start these, in Pleasntville the firemen don't know how to handle these or what they are.
What is fire?
In Pleasntville Bud's coworker complains saying life “never gets any better or any worse; it’s always the same.”, similar Jonas' society also never worsens or gets better.
