100

What block is needed to start every code?

"When started..."

100

What do we call the mechanism with two or more gears?

Gear Train

100

What are team norms?

Team norms are rules for your team to follow to be successful when completing projects and activities.
100

Define "driving gear"

The gear that provides the input or power to the system.

100

Please simplify this gear ratio:

48 : 64

3 : 4

200

What in an example of a looping block? (2 possible answers)

Repeat block or forever block

200

Define "Autonomously"

A system that can run without human input.

200

What is a decision matrix?

A decision matrix is a table used to help decide which of the ideas generated to solve the client request would be the best to build.

200

Define "driven gear."

The gear that is receiving the input from the Driving gear and is the last gear in the system.

200

Define Torque

Torque is the twisting or rotational force of the system.

300

Why is a flowchart helpful when created a code?

It can help map out what you want your code to do. This will save you time when creating your code

300

What is a bevel gear?

A system that transmits motion and force between two cone-shaped gears often mounted at a 90-degree angle to each other.

300

What is an intern?

A student or trainee who works in a support role at a company, performing assigned tasks while learning important skills and gaining work experience.

300

When there are an even number of gears, do the driven and driving gears turn in the same direction or the opposite direction?

opposite

300

When the input gear is larger than the output gear, does the output gear turn faster or slower?

Faster

400

What is an algorithm?

An ordered set of instructions that are used to carry out a task.

400

What are the two devices that were added to your builds this quarter that needed to be configured to the brain?

Motor and Bumper Switch

400

Define Gear Ratio

A relation comparing two gears based on number of rotations, speed, size, or number of teeth.

400

Define "idler gear"

The gear between the driven and driving gear that helps to transfer the input to the output.

400

When the output gear is larger than the input gear, does the torque increase or decrease?

Increase

500

If your code is not working, what is the first thing you should check? (2 possible answers)

- Is my brain icon green?

- Is my brain connected to the computer with the USB cord?

500

When building the Res-Q-Bot, what materials were needed to attach the brain to the gear train? What issues did this cause?

You needed to add a 90* Bent Gusset and the Robot Brain bracket. This added a lot of weight to the back of the Res-Q-Bot and would cause the bot to either tip over when it stopped or cause the Bot to not move in a straight line.

500

What are the 6 steps of the design process?

1. Define the problem
2. Generate Concepts
3. Design Solution
4. Build and Test
5. Evaluate Solution
6. Present Solution

500

In a gear train with 5 gears, and the driving gear being the first gear, what direction would the 3 gear spin: the same or the opposite?

The same
500

What does the phrase' "Speed and torque are inversely related!" mean?

When one quantity increases, the other quantity decreases. This means that if the output gear turns faster, it will have less torque. If the output gear turns slower, it will have more torque.
