Response strategy

  1. Do not bring any verbal or physical attention to learner's flop such as pulling him up by his arm's or saying, "we don't need to do that".
  2. Maintaining a neutral affect, instruct learner to stand up while offering out your hand
  3. If learner does not respond, do not continue repeating instruction
  4. Assess motivation for known preferred items such as books or the rainbow fidget.
  5. Once motivation is determined, provide first-then statement such as "first bathroom, then fidget". 
  6. Provide instruction to stand up and complete instruction or transition.
