This technique uses words that either create a sound effect or sound similar to to the sound that they make.
Onomatopoeia
This song uses imagery to provide vivid descriptions that involve multiple senses to describe a place far away.

Haiku
This type of poem takes a topic and writes it vertically (down) your page. You write lines or words related to the topic that begin with the letters you wrote vertically.
Acrostic Poem
A group of lines in a poem. The lines go together like sentences in a paragraph to create this group.
This technique is when there is a repetition of the first letter (or sound) of each word.
Alliteration
This poem was used in class to analyze the meaning and show your understanding. It compares youth to age.
Youth, I Do Adore Thee
BOOM!, Ding Dong, Knock Knock, and Pow are all examples of this.
Onomatopoeia
This small poem with only 3 short lines follows the format:
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables
Haiku
Words that have opposite meanings and can be used to point out contrasts.
Antonyms
This technique is when there is an exaggeration which couldn't possibly happen in real life.
Hyperbole

The Jabberwocky
This uses sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch to create a understanding and description in the readers mind.
