What is a simile?
Used when literal language is not adequate.
What is figurative language?
Talks about nature and is only 3 lines in length; 5-7-5.
What is a Haiku?
The author of a poem.

"Wait, that couch has always been there?"

What is hyperbole?
Used to describe what a person hears, sees, feels, smells, and tastes.
What is sensory language?
Certain letters in each line spell out a word. The poem describes or tells a story about that word.
What is an Acrostic Poem?
ABAB, ABCB, ABAC.
What is a rhyme scheme?
"Submit your poetry packets, please!"

What is alliteration?
Allows the reader to visualize the events, characters, or setting in a text.
What is imagery?
An Irish form of verse. Typically a light-hearted and fun poem.
What is a Limerick?
The feeling the reader gets when they read a poet's writing.
What is mood?
"There! This room is now disgustingly clean."

Another way to say poetic structure.
What is form?
This type of poem does not need to follow a rhyme scheme or certain number of words or syllables.

The attitude of the writer; is made evident in the text.
