What's the Expectation?
The name of the policy that states: "Upon admission to Penn College, students make the unqualified commitment to responsible conduct, both on and off campus, which conforms to the generally accepted standards of adult behavior within an academic community. Students are expected to show courtesy and respect for faculty, staff, and fellow students, in all personal contacts." (P 4.43)
What is the "Code of Conduct"?
The minimum GPA required during a semester in which six or more credits are attempted to qualify for the Dean's List. (P 4.22)
What is a 3.5?
Unauthorized use of AI, plagiarism, and cheating to complete coursework are all examples of this. (P 4.45)
What is "Academic Dishonesty"?
The office you need to visit if you want to change your major. (P 4.36)
What is the Registrar's Office?
The number of points the College uses for its grading system. (P 4.37)
What is a 4.0 system?
Where the student will find each instructor's expectation for attendance. (P 4.26)
What is a syllabus?
NOTE: It's important to read each course syllabus carefully. An attendance drop can occur after missing a week's worth of classes.
The number of times a student can take a non-developmental undergraduate-level course. (P 4.28)
What is 3 times?
The person's signature, along with the student's, is needed if a course is dropped during the first three weeks of class (20% of a 16-week semester). (P 4.31)
Who is the academic advisor?
NOTE: During the 20% to 80% mark, dropping the course requires the signature of the student, academic advisor, and instructor. A "W" will appear on the transcript.
A measure of a student's successful progression in the student's educational program that is required for federal and PA State Grant aid. Regular monitoring is done to determine if a student is academically eligible for continued financial aid. (P 4.32)
What is Satisfactory Academic Progress?
The number of points awarded for earning a "B" in a class. (P 4.37)
What is 3?
The Sexual Misconduct/Sexual Harassment policy prohibits all forms of this. (P 7.30)
What is discrimination?
An academic overload consists of taking more than 18 credits per semester and requires the approval of these two people. (P 4.35)
Who are the academic advisor and dean/assistant dean.
NOTE: Student must also have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
During academic review, a GPA lower than this number will place a student on academic probation. (P 4.27)
What is a 2.0?
NOTE: Some programs may require a higher GPA.

What is a 2.0?
The "unwelcome, verbal or physical conduct (which is based on a protected classification) that is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it unreasonably interferes with, denies, or limits someone's ability to participate in or benefit from the College's educational programs and/or activities". What is harassment?
The number of times a student can take a developmental course. (P 4.28)
What is 2?
NOTE: Passing a developmental course requires a "C" or higher.
The amount of time a student will be academically suspended if their cumulative GPA falls below a 2.0 in ANY three semesters (sequential or otherwise). (P 4.27)
What is one academic year (two regular semesters, fall/spring)?
NOTE: If academically suspended, a student will need to appeal for re-enrollment.
If a first-semester student has less than a 1.0 GPA, the student will be academically suspended for a semester before being able to appeal.
Part of the Student Code of Conduct. It is the failure of any student to address, known or obvious violations of the Student Code of Conduct Standards or applicable law. Students are expected to take reasonable action to prevent or report such violations when aware of them. (P 4.43)
What is the "Failure to Act"?

This Act protects a student's education records from being disclosed without the student's consent. (P 4.04)

If an academic dishonesty ruling is appealed, this person will review the case within five business days and give a final decision on the situation. (PR 4.45)
Who is the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost?
NOTE: There are many potential consequences for academic dishonesty, including failure of the course, withdrawal from the program, and expulsion.
Where alleged infractions of the Student Code of Conduct Standards will be reviewed to make determinations as to whether a student, a student organization, or a student group is responsible for a violation of College policy, and if appropriate, recommend appropriate sanctions. (P 4.43)
