procedure for getting on a bus DAILY DOUBLE
• Wait for buses away from curbs and pedestrian paths, • Consider staggering numbers of participants boarding on bus/train • Leader at front leads entire group to the back of the bus/train and another Leader stands at door and does a headcount as children board bus/train • Last Leader on bus pays • Regular head counts of campers should be conducted throughout the trip especially during transitions • Children sit down whenever there is a seat, except for priority seats • If standing, hold on to something • Only Leaders push the stop button • Leaders must announce arrival to their destination and have children up and ready at least one stop before to ensure the children have all their belongings and are ready to vacate the bus/train • One Leader leads children off the bus through the back door, or off the train through the closest side door. One Leader must get off last and should remain on the bus/train to do a headcount as children get off, and checks for left belongings and children • Head count again after all have gathered safely off the bus/train • Ensure all campers know what to do and who to contact if they get left behind:
