What counts as a tardy? And what kind of tardies require you to go to the attendance office before class?
Anything after the start of class is a tardy. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late need go to the attendance office for admittance to class.
What is Oceana’s Academic Honesty Policy?
Oceana students are taught how to avoid plagiarism and will be addressed depending on the instances and assignment.
What prompts a Suspension?
Causing physical injury, possessing a dangerous object or a controlled substance and engaging in an act of bullying are a few reasons this can occur.
What is Oceana’s Vision Statement?

What are blocks?
Students have three classes a day by attending even and odd periods.
What is Truancy?
Three or more uncleared/unexcused absences or tardy for more than 30-minutes during the school day on three occasions.
What is the Dress Code? And how is it enforced?
The basic principle is that certain body parts must be covered for all students at all times. Students will be asked to put on their own alternative clothing, be provided with temporary school clothing or their parent/guardian will be called to bring alternative clothing.
What should be known about lockers?
Students are given the privilege of using two for their convenience. These are the property of the school.
What is Academic Council?
A collaborative democratic body composed of elected student, parent, and staff representatives, determines key schoolwide decisions.
What is StudentVue?
Students are able to see their grades, attendance and course history.
What is a verified absence?
Excused reasons include illness, appointment for medical or dental services or a funeral.
What is the policy for field trips?
Students participating in a school-sponsored field trip must have a school field trip form signed by a parent or guardian turned in 24 hours in advance of leaving on the field trip. Verbal agreements will not be accepted. All regular school rules and regulations apply while on a field trip.
What is the medication administration form?
All students who need to bring medication, including over the counter medication, to campus must complete and give this form to the attendance clerk.
The learning experience at Oceana is student-centered. How is this done?
Oceana staff mentor students to find and pursue their passions through personalized supports that meet students where they are and help them become who they want to be.
When and how can students use the library?
It is open for students from 7:45 am until 4:15 pm, including breaks. Computers and printers are available for student use during the day with teacher permission.
What is a closed campus?
Students may not leave the campus at any time during school hours. Students may not have food delivered to them.
What is Oceana's policy on Electronic Devices?
They may not be used during instructional minutes including on campus spaces such as hallways and bathrooms. If used, it must be turned over to staff who request it. The student should arrange to speak with an administrator at the end of the school day about retrieving their device.
What are extracurricular activities?
School-sponsored that strengthen Oceana culture by connecting community members. Although they may take place off campus or after normal school hours, all school rules apply.
What are our School Wide Outcomes?
Oceana is a community of lifelong learners striving to become communicators; problem solvers; creative thinkers; compassionate workers; respectful community members; and individuals who actively participate in self-care.
Where is the lost and found located?
It is maintained in the front office with the receptionist.
What are ways absence can be verified?
Parent/guardian calls attendance each day OR a note from the parent/guardian will be presented to attendance the next day.
What is the Policy for a Safe School and Safe Learning?
Oceana immediately address any harm or harassment through words, actions, or other verbal, written, digital or physical conduct which ridicules, scorns, mocks, intimidates, or otherwise threatens any individual on the basis of real or perceived gender, ethnicity, skin color, national origin, political beliefs, religious beliefs, physical characteristics, disability, economic status, sexual orientation, gender presentation or any other personal characteristic.
What is Community Service?
Students are required to complete every year as part of their graduation requirement. It is an opportunity to learn, feel connected to others and meet Oceana’s outcome number five
What is Flex-Time?
It can provide one-on-one or small group assistance with school work.
What is the goal of Counseling and Academic support?
To build a strong community, to support positive relationships, and create a sense of responsibility among students for a safe and healthy learning environment.
