You smell marijuana throughout an entire floor (or multiple floors). You cannot pinpoint an origin.
*It's just a smell with no origin; no actual evidence.
A resident's guest is confirmed as the person who broke a window in a residence hall. Who goes through the conduct process and is held financially responsible?
The resident is held responsible for any damage caused by their guests.
What you should say to someone on the elevator with an electric scooter.
"Did you know that e-scooters are not allowed in any buildings at IU?"
A resident tells you that they think there is mold in their room.
EMAIL: Do not use the word "mold" when talking to residents; we say SFG. Direct the student to the student contact form (in duty manual).
You see a student vaping outside the stairwell as you are leaving. What should you do?
Identify yourself as a staff member, identify the student, and tell them you have to file a report. We strongly encourage them to get rid of the prohibited item immediately to avoid further reports.

When should you call IUPD for the smell of marijuana?
You smell marijuana strongly coming from one room. You knock, the resident opens the door, and you see a bong behind them. The resident confirms there is marijuana in the room.
*When it is no longer just a smell: it must be seen or a student must admit to it.
I do not know that information. Student staff report what is seen and heard, and have no knowledge or role in anything further. Students should be watching out for outreach from professional staff.
