WHAT IS AIR POLLUTION?
Air pollution is the contamination of the atmosphere by harmful gases, particulates, and biological molecules. Common sources include vehicle emissions, industrial discharges, and burning fossil fuels.
WHAT IS LAND POLLUTION?
Land pollution is when the ground becomes dirty, damaged, or unsafe because of harmful materials. These materials can include trash, chemicals, plastics, pesticides, and waste that humans throw away or spill onto the land.
WHAT IS WATER POLLUTION?
Water pollution is when harmful substances get into rivers, lakes, oceans, or groundwater and make the water unsafe for people, animals, and the environment.
These harmful substances can include:
Chemicals
Trash and plastics
Sewage
Oil
Fertilizers and pesticides
WHAT IS NOISE POLLUTION?
Noise pollution is when there is too much loud or disturbing sound in the environment. These sounds are usually unwanted and can harm people, animals, and even the environment.
Common sources include:
Traffic and honking
Construction work
Loud music
Factories and machines
Airplanes
AIDEN'S FATHER WNT TO THE INDUSTRIAL FACTORIES.HE HAD MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS THE NEXT DAY.WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
1. Air Pollution Exposure
Factories can release:
Smoke
Dust
Chemical fumes
Breathing these in can lead to:
Headaches
Coughing
Sore throat
Tiredness
Why: The lungs and nose react to polluted air, and the body shows symptoms later.
HOW CAN LAND POLLUTION AFFECT HUMANS? WHY OR WHY NOT?
Polluted soil can contain chemicals, heavy metals, or bacteria. These can reach humans through:
Food (plants grown in polluted soil absorb toxins)
Water (pollutants seep into groundwater)
Air (dust from polluted soil becomes airborne)
DOES IT FEEL BAD IF YOU GO ON A TRIP TO A POLLUTED RIVER?
Going near or into a polluted river doesn’t automatically harm you, but it can depending on what you do there and how polluted it is.
List out 4 effects of water pollution.
1. Harm to aquatic life
Polluted water can kill fish, plants, and other organisms or make it hard for them to survive.
2. Spread of diseases
Dirty water can carry germs that cause illnesses in humans and animals.
3. Damage to ecosystems
Pollution can upset the balance of rivers, lakes, and oceans, leading to problems like algae overgrowth and loss of biodiversity.
4. Unsafe drinking water
Polluted water becomes unsafe to drink, which can lead to health problems for communities.
Why does water pollution in one place sometimes affect animals and people far away?
Polluted water can travel through rivers and oceans, spreading chemicals and trash to other places where it harms wildlife and people who depend on that water.
How can tiny pieces of plastic harm animals even though they are very small?
Animals may mistake microplastics for food. These pieces stay in their stomachs, making them feel full and stopping them from eating real food, which can make them weak or sick.
How can polluted water affect humans even if they don’t drink it?
Polluted water can harm crops, fish, and animals that people eat. It can also spread diseases when people swim or play in it.
Why is it difficult to clean up oil spills in the ocean?
Oil spreads quickly over large areas and floats on water. It sticks to animals, rocks, and beaches, making it hard to remove completely.
2. Why can a small amount of toxic chemical become more dangerous as it moves up the food chain?
Small animals absorb the chemical. Bigger animals eat many of those small animals, so the chemical builds up in their bodies. By the time it reaches top predators — including humans — the amount is much higher and more harmful.
Why do scientists worry more about invisible pollutants than visible trash?
Invisible pollutants like chemicals, pesticides, and microplastics can enter the bodies of animals and humans without being noticed. They can cause long‑term health problems even when the water looks clean.
How can noise pollution from boats also contribute to water pollution problems?
Loud boat engines stress marine animals, making them weaker and less able to survive polluted environments. Boats can also leak oil or fuel, adding chemical pollution to the water.
Why is it dangerous when factories dump warm water into rivers, even if the water is clean?
Warm water holds less oxygen. This can suffocate fish and other animals, making the river unhealthy even without chemicals.
