No personal toys.
These items may be contaminated, sharp, breakable, and hazardous.
Some personal toys limit lower body mobility (mermaid tails & monofins).
No water/essential oils on sauna heater.
The sauna uses an electric heater.
Water, essential oils, etc. can make the heater short circuit.
No running.
Major slipping hazard from an elevated surface.
Height requirements: 42” tall for yellow slide, 48” tall for blue slide.
The slides were designed with height requirements to limit the risk of injury. Blue slide requirement is higher due to high speed, significant impact into the flume, and the exposed top.
No running on deck.
Major slipping hazard.
Fish boats are for children under 35lbs.
Risk of the seat breaking, fish boat flipping over, etc.
No diving from the hot tub edge.
There is a significantly increased risk of spinal injuries (Diving into water depth less than 9ft).
Patron MUST jump straight off.
Jumping off sideways towards the wall may result in spinal, head/neck, leg injuries, etc.
Must go feet first.
Major risk for spinal, head/neck injury, etc.
Appropriate swim attire.
Increased drowning/exhaustion risk.
No personal PFDs (Puddle Jumpers, water wings, inflatable PFDs)
- Puddle jumpers restrict arm movement as they are stitched under the arm to the chest piece.
- Water wings are not secure and can easily slip off.
- Inflatable PFDs can easily deflate leaving them as a hazard.
Do NOT use the sauna while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
Increases affects of substances.
No PFDs.
PFDs can easily break/come off if worn while jumping off diving boards.
Impact can cause a jacket that fits improperly to go up over someone’s face, increasing risk of drowning.
No goggles, jewelry or PFDs.
Goggles - Risk of getting snagged while riding and limits visibility.
Jewelry - Risk of getting snagged and causing degloving.
PFDs - Risk of getting snagged, no need for PFD due to very shallow water in slide basins.
No slapping/slamming flutter boards/noodles against the water.
It is very distracting for the lifeguards.
No snorkels or face masks.
Water can enter facemask/snorkel resulting in difficulty breathing/secondary drowning.
Most masks are made of glass, if broken the pool must be drained.
Note: They are permitted if patron has exemption
Patron capacity (<14 patrons).
Hot tub and sauna built for 14 patrons, exceeding this causes an imbalance in the tub’s pool chemicals.
Sauna’s square footage limit is 14.
No goggles.
- Can obstruct vision.
- Can cause eye injuries upon impact.
- Can cause nose injuries upon impact.
One rider at a time.
Prevents collisions and minimizes the risk of injuries from potential impacts with another person.
No phones on the pool deck.
The use of camera/video is allowed if it does not disrupt the activity of others and is in accordance with the CGC User Code of Conduct.
Electronic devices are not permitted to enter the pool or hot tub.
No chicken fights.
Can cause joint or impact injuries.
Horseplay; can quickly get out of control.
Age requirements (must be 16 years old).
1. The CGC is a commercial facility following provincial requirements.
2. Due to high temperatures, heat exposure in hot tubs has adverse effects on physiological health outcomes (fatigue, reduced level of consciousness).
3. These adverse outcomes present themselves much faster and can be more severe in youth due to smaller body size and lack of physiological development.
Caution on flips (Swimmers using the diving board should not attempt twists and flips unless trained by a diving coach).
Doing skills untrained can lead to unnecessary injuries to the user or another person.
Weight limit must not exceed 300 pounds.
Exceeding the designed capacity can put undue stress on the slide's structure, potentially causing damage, malfunctions, and increasing the risk of injury to riders.
Water dumbbells are for adults only.
They are purchased by fitness for Aquafit classes only. Adults also do not eat them.
