What is FAR part 42?
A contractor hired to knowingly misrepresents their costs, and fails to perform the work. The Government chooses to pursue this legal action.

What is a Patent Defect?
If the total value adjustment of a contract is over this value, a certified cost or pricing data letter is required
What is $2.5 Million? (truthful cost or pricing data act)
During Government inspection of a delivered system, inspectors find small cosmetic scratches that do not affect function. Under FAR Part 46, these are classified as this type of defect, which usually does not justify rejection.

What is FAR 52.243-1?
After acceptance of electrical control panels, failures occur months later due to degraded internal wiring insulation that could not have been discovered through reasonable inspection at delivery. The discovery of this item in FAR part 46 allows the Government to seek remedies despite prior acceptance.
What is a latent defect?
This is the amount of time Contractors must retain contract files for.
What is 3 years?
A contractor is hired to develop night vison goggles for troops but provides the Government with broken sunglasses. The Government will pursue this legal action.
What is termination for default?
This type of delinquency notice occurs when there are less than 10 days remaining in the contract, asks KTR to provide evidence as to why they should not be terminated
What is a Show Cause Notice?
Under FAR 43.102, this action may be required when an unauthorized Government representative directs a contractor to perform work, and the Government later chooses to approve it.
What is ratification?
A contractor delivers 10,000 identical fasteners. Inspecting all would be too time-consuming, so the Government QA team tests 1% chosen by a lottery method. This FAR Part 46-approved method provides reasonable confidence in lot quality while saving time.
What is random sampling?
The FAR requires verification that the contractor has delivered all deliverables and returned all government-furnished property; failure to do so may result in this financial action.
What is withholding of final payment?
During a site visit, the Government finds that a contractor used an outdated address on a shipping label, but the shipment arrived on time and meets all specifications. In this case, the Government will pursue this action.
