This compromise combined the New Jersey and Virginia plans making our modern House and Senate.

This president passed the Alien and Sedition Acts.

Prominent Anti-federalist that would later found the Democratic-Republican party.
Who is Thomas Jefferson?
Right to avoid self-incrimination. This amendment gives US citizens the right to avoid search or seizure without probable cause.
What is the 5th amendment?
Rebellion in Massachusetts over lack of pay to veterans for service in the Revolutionary War. This showcased the weaknesses of the AOC, namely the inability to collect taxes (couldn’t pay the veterans) and the lack of a strong federal military to fall back on.
What is Shays Rebellion?
Plan written by James Madison which gave states representation based on their populations. It was hated by smaller states who feared their voices would be silenced.

This president set the Lewis and Clark on their expedition.

Anti-federalist demanded that this be added to the Constitution to secure individual and states’ rights.

Right to a trial by jury. This amendment makes sure that US citizens are given fair trials whose outcomes are determined by an unbiased jury rather than just one judge.

A primary strength of the Articles of Confederation. It defined the procedure by which territories in the Northwest US could become states.

Plan written by representative from New Jersey that would give all states an equal vote in Congress. It was disliked by larger states but favoured by smaller states.
