Speak to a relative

I totally understand that you want to get some advice from your (relative). Obviously I would never advise you not to do that since they care about you and will always look out for your best interests. What’s actually really funny is that I take those kind of phone calls all the time since I’m in the home remodeling industry, and my friends and family always assume I’m an expert on everything regarding a home, when really I’m a specialist really only on windows. Imagine if my mom called me and said “hey I have a guy here and he actually just quoted our kitchen for 32,000, do you think that’s a good price?” My knee-jerk reaction is to obviously say “whoa that’s a lot of money mom… I don’t think you should do it”. Simply because all I heard was the dollar amount, and I have absolutely no idea what’s being included in the project. It could have possibly been a great deal for all I know, and included marble and all new appliances… But since I have no idea on what’s being included, there’s no way I could offer sound advice in that situation. And the same goes here, even if your (relative) said to do the project, he would still be giving you bad advice since he/she has no idea of what’s actually involved. In reality, the most informed person in the this situation is you since you now know more about windows than 99% of the population.

Stock vs. Custom

There are two types of windows out there: Stock and Custom

A stock window is pre-made in 2-4 inch increments and will not fit into the existing opening

You must gut the opening down to the studs and this is know as a rough opening

Then you need to remove the original buck frame and rebuild a brand new buck frame to fit the stock window

Its messy and time consuming, it’s going to require some maintenance, such as painting the new molding and fixing the drywall

What we do is custom windows made to the nearest 1/4 of an inch

It fits into your existing opening and doesn’t disrupt the dry wall or molding

The benefits to that is there’s no mess no maintenance

We don’t make the home fit the window, we make the window fit the home

Bring Down to Earth

Guys, one thing I want to mention to you before I run, I have been doing this job for a long time now, and in an industry where most contractors just don’t care, I really do. That’s why I pride myself on being open and upfront with people when it comes to their home. A lot of people I met with don’t have any major issues, and in these situations I tell them that they should hold off on getting the project done for now. Unfortunately, that is not the case today. There’s a reason I’ve been here for three hours. Your windows have serious problems and your energy bills are $_____ a month. You have water in the wall cavity and rotted sills and brick molds. The longer you wait the more it will cost you and I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t exhaust every option to help you tackle this project. I know you said no twice and you can say no a third time, you aren’t going to make me cry. But I do have one last option and if it works great if not no worries.

Compare Panels

When getting your siding done, it’s important that its going to look good for a long time but also be maintenance free. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. If you take a looks here, this is an example of what cheaper/low grade siding is going to look like. See here on this top photo, the siding is checker boarding, which means it fades at different rates, so it looks horrible and it cracks and dents very easily. And last, this is the result of a bad install and a cheap panel. This family spend 20k but should have spent 40k. This is a “get what you pay for” industry guys, and the most expensive project is the one you have to do twice.

Let’s see how the panels stack up. If you look at the lower grade panel, it’s thing and flimsy. It has a single roll over nailing hem, which means its only good for a 60mph wind rating. Which we see very often. This also only comes in an 8” panel. The biggest thing about this panel is what it’s made out of. It is made out of recycled vinyl. They take old lawn furniture, toys, milk jugs and repurpose it as siding. They fill in those pores with calcium carbonate aka chalk. Then they put a plastic coating over the top that they then paint. But after a year or two that coating starts to wear off and now that chalk is exposed to the weather and starts to absorb moisture. That’s how you’ll end up with algae and all that maintenance. That’s how it ends up cracking very easily.

Now Cedar Tech, this is going to be 20% thicker. It has a double roll over nailing hem, which means 130mph wind rating, which is hurricane strength. It comes in those 18” tall panels with the foam backed siding. But against the biggest thing is what this stuff is made out of. This is first generation PVC aka virgin vinyl, it has never been repurposed. What we do to make it better is add a couple important ingredients. First is Luron S, it is a color lock, so that regatta blue is going to look the same on day one until you sell the house, it’s going to look great. Also we use something called titanium dioxide, this locks out the moisture. It’s the main ingredient in sun screen. Think about when you put sun screen on, go into the pool, the water starts to bead off of you. The same thing happens to your siding. It’ll be like rain-x for your siding.

See how it sticks to the bottom but comes back up? If I stick my finger in, notice how it comes out dry. Now you try it. Pretty cool that you can see that it will not mix with water. Now would you put siding on your home that would absorb moisture? No, of course not. All right, well that’s it about the panel. Last thing here is some quick finishing touches and then we’ll get to those numbers.

Cut Vs. Caulk

We are not the only company that uses a custom window. Custom windows are made to the nearest quarter of an inch so that you can fit it into the opening and have room to make it level.

That means that there is a quarter of an inch gap between the frame and the window and most contractors simply use a cheap latex or polyurethane based caulk. The issue with this caulk is it dries, cracks and becomes brittle over time and this leads to water and air infiltration and high energy bills.

Now all of our installers are trained on the Power Installation Methods

They learn the proper techniques, from an architectural and engineering standpoint, so the windows impervious to any of the elements

Their install is much more thorough than a simple bead of caulk, here at power we require 6 different weather barriers while using only the highest quality materials in the industry

Remove the window, shop vac and prep opening

Then installing the new window making sure its plumb, level and square

Then unitize the interior trim piece and seal the opening from the inside with OSI Quad Max Sealant

Then fill any gaps around the window with OSI Quad Spray Foam

From there we install a custom exterior trim, its a aluminum pvc coil that has a baked on wood grain vinyl finish and then finally we seal the exterior of the window with Quad Max Sealant, OSI Quad Max is the best sealant is the industry and can withstand extreme weather.

So that the proper way to install a window that is imperious to water and air filtration. Sounds a lot better than a bead of caulk right?

Too Expensive

Every homeowner is looking for 3 things when getting a home improvement project done. Every homeowner wants the best quality product they can get, the best quality installation and service, and everyone obviously wants the lowest fee. If you think about it though, it’s economically impossible for any one company to offer all 3 of those things. They would either go bankrupt or have a monopoly on the industry. So ask yourself which one you are willing to compromise? You wouldn’t want to compromise the quality of the product and get a low-end window and not save any money on energy, right? You wouldn’t want to compromise the quality of the installation and risk a nightmare, right? I think most people would agree that it’s wise to spend a little more to ensure your long-term happiness. With that being said, keep in mind even a low-end Mickey-Mouse window with clear glass, recycled vinyl, hollow frames, screwed in corners, subs installing and no warranty is still going to cost you at minimum $700. For that amount you’re getting no energy efficient savings, no increase in equity of the home, and eventually will need to get windows done again. For a little bit more you can have complete peace of mind in the job getting done the right way.

Powervent

1st we cut a 1 inch incision above the gutter line. Then we install the Powervent. It is a bunch of micro-perforated straws woven together. It is waterproof and only allows fresh air in. He is how it looks installed. Imagine this is where your gutter is and underneath is your soffit and fascia. Normally you would have to get air in from underneath and do all that unnecessary work. Instead we bypass it and get the air in through the sides of the roof with the Powervent.

As you can see from this video, the Powervent allows all the air to through the sides of the roof. It gives you a 2 to 1 intake to exhaust and works twice as well. So as you can see we no longer have to go underneath through the soffit and fascia, Instead we put the ventilation into the roof itself. This will stop the issues from getting worse and we can salvage the good wood and rafters from getting any worse. Doesn’t that seem like a better option? Do you have any questions regarding the Powervent?

Efficiency and Security

Doors can make up a good portion of your homes energy loss, you will lose energy either through the door, low quality glass or insulation or around the door itself and cheap weather stripping and drafts.

We have heat shield which reflects 90% of energy transferring through the glass keeping the heat inside in the winter and outside in the summer. The comfort spacer stops energy transfer and eliminates seal failure. The doors are completely filled with a polyurethane foam for insulation, stopping energy from getting through the door. All contact points around the door are lined with a premium weather stripping, preventing drafts. And a 5-part bulb and sweep which stops air, dust and energy from leaking around and under the door.

So you can see there is no way for heat or cold to get through the door or glass. And there is no way for air to get around the door. With the Freedom Door, not only are you going to be more comfortable in your home, but the energy efficiency lowers your energy bills, saving you money.

Now let’s talk about safely and security. 56% of break-ins happen through a homes entry door, either though the door, the frame, or the lock itself.

The Freedom Door is made up of 20-gauge commercial grade steel, 49% thicker than standard 24-gauge doors, leading to an extremely structurally sound, strong, and durable entry way. Also prevents denting. We secure the doors hardware with a composite lock block, ensuring that your lock works time after time and is secure. Steel hinge reinforcements inside the slab of the door prevent the door from being able to be pried off the frame. The frame also has additional 20 gauge steel plate for the deadbolt to be secured through, making your door fort Knox. All hardware is included. By only providing Premium Schlage hardware, the locks don’t just look great, but are also pick-proof.

As you can see, this door is built like a tank. Making it near impossible for someone to get into your home through your door. With a Freedom Door, you have total peace of mind knowing your home and your family is safe, when you are home and out of town.

Cant Afford

I totally understand where you’re coming from and I know how frustrating it can be when something you want and know you need is a little out of budget. We would never want you to feel like you’re biting off more than you can chew, or to keep food off the table. But the reality is that this project definitely needs to be done as you guys know, you have (Urgency). You will always have something on your plate that will make this tough to tackle and its easy to put window on the back burner. But the reality is the longer you wait, the more expensive this project is going to be. Zen Glass

To understand it you gotta understand its 2021 and every window you see is going to be double paned and what that means is there’s 2mm of glass and 2mm of glass for a total of 4mm of glass. First off its not very strong so it can break easily and sound can travel right through and you’ll have sound pollution. Maybe a noisy neighbor hahahaha So that’s why we created Zen Glass. so instead of doing two pains of 2mm we have a 5mm on the outside pane and 3mm on the inside for a total of 8mm. This is going to do two things, it’s going to increase the security of the home because it’s as thick as a car windshield, also the two thickness of glass that are different and its scientifically proven to deaden sound. Now when I heard this i was a little shocked because I’m not a sound expert, then they showed me this. You’re going to be surprised by how peaceful and tranquil your home will be and you’ll get a better nights rest. The other reason glass is so important is because the glass is where you lose the majority of the energy in your home. There are a few different options in the industry for glass, some are more energy efficient than others.

Elements and Beauty

In this area of the county we get tons of _____ (insert common weather patterns). This causes builders grade doors and frames to wear, rot and need replacement sooner than you’d want. It is important that your door can withstand all of those elements and protect your home form the weather outside. Our door has a galvanized coating on the inside and outside of the door procuring it from moisture and rusting. Most steel doors are reinforced by wood which absorbs moisture. The Freedom series slab is completely wood free. The fiberglass reinforcements eliminate rotting and moisture build up inside the door. Lastly, the bottom of the frame is where your frame is most vulnerable to the elements. We install Frame Saver, a composite material that stops any water/ moisture from absorbing and rotting the frame. You can see that the Freedom Series door is built to stop water from getting into the door, frame, and your home through the entry way. You can have peace of mind knowing your home is protected and that your investment will last a lifetime.

The door you built is designed to be a functional piece of art. But over time will it look the same? Most doors won’t look the same in year 1 as they do 7-10 years down the road.

We use a five step painting process with the highest quality of materials in the industry. Eliminating any moisture, so the paint won’t ever bubble. And protecting the paint eliminating any fading. On top of the quality products, at Provia there are craftsman level inspections that scrutinizes every little detail of the door, ensuring there are no imperfections. If they are to find any, they will send the door back through the finishing process until they get it right, truly representing “The Professional Way”. With attention to detail in the quality of products and the manufacturing process, the door you designed will be built to last. Protecting your investment and increasing your curb appeal. You can see that a door is more than just meets the eye. It’s all the little details that ensure this will be the last door you ever have to install on your home. That pretty much sums up the Freedom Series Door, did I explain that okay?
