If a youth reports that they are intersex or transgender, how do we ensure that they receive fair treatment while in the facility?
Use correct pronouns, correct staff for searches, name preference.
What is sexual abuse?
A sexual act that is UNWANTED or FORCED
If you make a report of sexual abuse or harassment that HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED, how soon does staff follow up with you to make a report?
Immediately
Why are ongoing services important when someone has suffered from sexual abuse or harassment?
Sexual assault/abuse/harassment is traumatic. Everyone needs resources to help cope, understand, and deal with such a significant event.
Why are you not allowed to communicate with residents of the opposite gender in the facility?

If you are sexually assaulted how do you preserve evidence?
Do not shower, do not brush your teeth, don't wash clothes, do not use the bathroom.
What is sexual Harassment?
Repeated and unwelcomed sexual advances, requests, verbal comments, gestures, or actions done in a derogatory or offensive sexual nature.
What is the time limit on making a PREA report?
There is no time limit on reporting.
How soon MUST a mental health professional follow up with you, if you state you want to speak with a professional regarding sexual abuse or harassment?
14 days or 2 weeks
You find a note on the ground from one of your peers that contains sexually explicit content about another peer. What's your next move?
Report it RIGHT AWAY through one of the reporting methods.
What is voyeurism?
An invasion of privacy by staff for reasons unrelated to official duties.
EX. Staring at a youth who is using a toilet.
Requiring a youth to expose him or herself.
