This coverage can cover damage from fire, theft, vandalism, windstorm, flood, falling objects, etc. It does not cover mechanical breakdown, normal wear and tear, or maintenance.
This is Cal Casualty’s position as it pertains to replacing and/or repairing CAT protective shields/devices.
What is if the shield/device was on the vehicle prior to the loss and was damaged, Cal Casualty would owe to replace it because they have a duty to bring the vehicle back to pre-loss condition.
HOWEVER, if the vehicle did not have a shield/device prior to the loss and the customer wants one installed to prevent a future theft they would not owe for it. If the customer presses the issue have them contact their handling adjuster.
