What is annealed glass?
Annealed glass, or clear float is the standard glass lite for 3form. It has a slight green hue.
100
What is an unpolished/unfinished edge and what does it look like?
This will result in a rough edge in which the top and bottom pane of glass may be shifted as much as 5/16”. This is only an appropriate solution for a framed application and should never be used if the client needs to seam two pieces together. This is the default finish.

Below is an example of what Pressed Glass will look like without finished edges:

Can you add hole drilling to pressed glass, and how do you do it?
Yes, holes can be added to pressed glass.

Where is the new Pressed Glass Pricing Structure, and what is it??
The latest Pressed Glass Pricing Structure will soon be found in the Master Pricing workbook and goes as follows. In the meantime, you can access this from the July 08, 2013 Sales Call:

What is a safety bug??
Building codes require that safety glass (both laminated and tempered) have a permanent mark, known as a ‘bug’, on the glass that identifies the manufacturer, designation (i.e. tempered or laminated) and the codes or standards that the glass meets (i.e. ANSI Z97.1 and CFR 1201 Category II). All 3form Pressed Glass will carry this mark (bug) unless it is requested, in writing, that the glass contain “NO BUGS”.

200
What is tempered glass?
Tempered glass is 4‐6 times tougher than standard annealed glass. Tempered Glass has enhanced thermal resistance and will break into small, rounded pieces or cubes of glass, minimizing the risks of cuts and shards if the glass is broken.

Tempered glass is also referred to as ‘toughened glass’ or ‘heat strengthened’ because the surface of the glass can withstand four times the impact of standard glass. Tempered glass is created by substantially heating the glass and then quickly cooling it creating compressive forces at the surfaces that resist breakage.

Tempered glass cannot be fabricated after the tempering process. Tempered glass is most susceptible to breakage at the edge of the glass.

What is a polished edge with annealed glass look like??
A polished edge (annealed glass) will be flush with a subtle easing, as shown in the image. As it is not standard on samples, you will need to request a polished edge.

Here is what a polished edge will look like.

200
How do you quote shape cutting/Hole Drilling in ICE??
In ICE list the BULK SIZE that would be required to get the shape.

200
What is the minimum square footage charge for Pressed Glass pieces??
A minimum of 5 square feet must be charged per piece, (i.e. if you have a piece that is 8" x 24", it will charge as though it is 5 total square feet, even though it will only be manufactured to actual size)
200
What is a Edge Sealing and what does it look like??
Edge sealing is required for any wet applications. It is a black sealant and is not intended for aesthetic purposes.
300
What is safety glass, and does 3form pressed glass qualify as safety glass
Safety glass is typically a laminated glass, and is required to pass ANSI Z97.1 in order to qualify. Since 3form is a type of safety glass with the TPU interlayer all 3form glass qualifies as safety glass.

3form’s Pressed Glass (and Poured Glass!) passes the ANSI Z97.1 test and can therefore be considered as safety glass.

300
What is a polished edge with tempered glass look like??
Tempered glass is polished in individual pieces (lites) first, and then laminated together. Thus, some slippage can occur where the top glass piece and bottom glass piece do not line up evenly. Below is a picture of two glass panels, one on the right, and one on the left, showing how the two pieces of glass lites can slip and not line up in the final, laminated panel.

300
What are the limitations of fabrication between Annealed and Tempered Lites??
The lites must be tempered OR 1/4" annealed lites waterjet cut. All tempered glass can have hole cutting added. Currently there is no way in ICE to quote holes with annealed lites.
300
Where is the standard leadtime for Pressed Glass (no fabrication)??
Two Weeks
300
What is a Edge Deletion and what does it look like??
For sealing organic inserts, the user can also specify a 1/8” edge deletion combined with a TPU layer instead of a Black Edge Sealant. This 1/8” edge deletion simply means the insert stops 1/8” away from the edge of the panel, and then the TPU completely seals the entire interlayer. You can specify the amount of edge deletion. 1/8" is minimum.

What is Low Iron Glass (or Starfire) glass, and how does it differ from Clear Float (annealed)?
Low Iron is an alternative option to Clear Float. Colors and Organic Elements will be more true in Low Iron. However, it is more expensive and does have a very slight green hue that is more noticeable as the thickness of glass increases.
400
Can we waterjet cut glass, how, and what does the edge look like??
Pressed glass can be waterjet cut if the lites are annealed, AND over 1/4" each lite (the resulting in OVER 1/2" overall). This results in a flush straight cut, no easing of the edges is included.

400
What are the Minimum Hole Distances for Pressed Glass Fabrication??
Hole must be a minimum of 1 1/4" away from the edge (distance X). Distance between holes is 1" (distance Y).

400
Where is the standard leadtime for Pressed Glass with fabrication??
The standard leadtime (2 weeks) - plus 1 week - Total of 3 weeks. Expedites are no longer available on glass lites with fabrication. Drawing approval is required. Delays in getting approved drawings results in delays in ship dates.
400
What is a Pressed Glass Template, and how do we quote them??
Pressed Glass Templates are going to be a standard requirement when using point supports with glass. With the next version of ICE it will automatically add a Template. In the meantime, please add a template line (There is a Pressed Glass Template Laser Line in the fab section).
500
What is Low E glass?
Low E stands for "low emissivity". It is a thin coating that can be added to Pressed Glass. It has a light Amber color. It helps insulate the window, and is typically used for exterior windows only.
500
What is a beveled edge and is it available in pressed glass
Yes, be sure to confirm with the customer that they really need a bevel, and that our standard polish is not what they mean. Actually beveling the glass is uncommon. Please work with purchasing to determine pricing.

500
What are the Minimum Hole Diameters for Pressed Glass Fabrication, and what does our Pressed Glass Hardware require??
Holes must have a minimum diameter of 5/8". 3form Pressed Glass Adapters require 3/4" holes.
500
How do you quote fabrication that cannot be done in ICE??
Ask. It depends on what fabrication is required, and the extents of fabrication. You can ask Heidi Plumb, Matt Sutton, or Todd Hall. Any of us can help you review custom fabrication requests.

What is a the max weight for a Pressed Glass Crate??
Pressed Glass Crates can hold up to 2000 pounds. They look like this:
