May mimic a stroke or have altered mental status

When a patient opens their eyes/follows commands when spoken to or asked to on initial assessment by responder
What does responsive to 'Verbal' stimuli mean?
Checking for an ideal rate between 12 and 20
What is breathing?
When a patient knows their name
What is alert and orientated to person?
Hypoglycemic
What is a blood sugar under 4?
The M in SAMPLE
What is Medications?
When a patient only responds after light force is applied to the sternum, trapezoid or finger nail bed. Usual response is groaning or moaning when applied.
What does responsive to 'painful' stimuli mean?
Checking for a rate to exist ideally between 60-100
What is checking for circulation?
When a patient knows what day/month or year it is.
What is Alert and Orientated to time?
Blood sugar over 8
What is hyperglycemia?
The P in SAMPLE
What is past medical history?
When a patient does not respond to any other form of stimuli on initial assessment
What does 'unresponsive' mean?
Checking for obvious broken bones and bleeding

When a patient knows what the events were leading up to the arrival of responders

Unresponsive with pinpoint pupils
