Tell me the steps of the blood drawing process.

from beginning to finish; In detail

All steps must be correct 

  1. Identifying name and DOB
  2. Hand hygiene 
  3. Identifying the vein
  4. Place a tourniquet and clean the area with an alcohol wipe.
  5. Insert the beveled needle with tubing 
  6. Once blood is seen insert the tube 
  7. Properly label the tubes and send them to the laboratory for analysis
  8. Remove the tourniquet as the last amount of blood is drawn.
  9. Remove the needle from the patient’s arm and press down on the vessel with gauze.
  10. Dispose of contaminated materials and needles in the designated approved containers.
  11. Place a Bandage
  12. Label appropriate tubes
