Correctional Institutions Division (CID)

Security Operations

When information or knowledge is sufficient to induce a prudent and cautious person to believe an employee, inmate visitor, unit visitor, or volunteer has been, is being, or will be committing a crime or violating a TDCJ rule, policy, or procedure.
Reasonable Suspicion
This refers to assets, the basic physical plant and facilities, that are long-lived and normally stationary in nature, such as electrical power transmission lines, water distribution and collection systems, drainage, road networks, parking, security measures, plumbing, lighting, poles, razor wire, barbed wire, gates, doors, bars, windows, lock systems, fencing, and structures.
Infrastructure
These devices deliver an immobilizing electrical charge intended to cause neuromuscular incapacitation for the purpose of controlling inmate behavior.
ECDs - Electronic Control Device
This Officer coordinates the scheduling of inmate activities and the flow of inmate traffic, verifies lay-ins and other official passes.
