Oligohydramnios
What is the term for not enough amniotic fluid?
The vessels of the umbilical cord divide at a distance from the placenta
What is Velamentous inserstion?
Anaphylactiod syndrome of pregnancy
What is an amniotic fluid emboli by another name?
The placenta is implanted in the lower segment of the uterus
What is placenta previa?
Premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall
What is placenta abruptio?
Polyhydramnios
What is the term for too much amniotic fluid?
The cord descends before the presenting part
What is prolapsed cord?
SOB, Cardiac collapse, DIC, hypoxia, fetal demise, frothy sputum, chest pain, cyanosis
What are symptoms of an amniotic fluid emboli?
The placenta completely covers the external opening of the uterus (ie cervix)
What is a complete placenta previa?
DIC, Hemorrhage, Fetal demise, anemia, shock
What are complications of an abruptio placenta?
Variable deceleration
What is the fetal monitoring pattern you might see with oligohydramnios?
High presentation, polyhydramnios, transverse or breech presentation, pelvic dystocia
What are risk factors for umbilical cord prolapse?
A bolus of amniotic fluid enters the maternal circulation causing anaphylactic shock
What is AFE?
Transverse lie, previous c/section, uterine fibroid
What are some causes of placenta previa?
Rigid abdomen- painful to touch, Dark red vaginal bleeding
What are symptoms of an abruptio?
Kidney malformations, IUGR, pulmonary hypoplasia
What are fetal complications from oligohydramnios?
Keep hand pushing on presenting part, put patient in knee chest and transport to OR
What is treatment for cord prolapse?
Tear in the amnion or chorion, abruptio placenta
what are possible causes of AFI
Painless bright red vaginal bleeding
What are symptoms of a placenta previa?
Sudden and stormy
Chord prolapse, malpresentation, preterm delivery
What are the complications of polyhydramnios?
Fetal bradycardia, severe or prolonged variable decelerations
What is the fetal heart rate pattern seen with cord prolapse?
Immediate delivery, maintain oxygenation, supportive care, check for DIC
What are treatments for AFE?
Bleeding, hemorrhage, DIC, shock, C/Section
What are risks of a placenta previa?
Late decelerations or sinusiodal rhythm
What is a fetal heart change that might happen with this problem?
