Check Return>Forms>US>1065>page 2>Schedule B>see if question 4 is marked yes. If question 4 is marked yes, the balance sheet, M-1, M-2, and Item L on the K-1 are not required and will not fill out. Double check to see if their grant flavor is set to Cengage, if it is, you let them know that unfortunately it looks like they are a student, and you are not able to assist with return issues for student accounts and they will need to reach out to a professor or fellow student for help.

How to resolve this diagnostic: Schedule C: Auto and truck expenses require evidence to support the deduction. Failure to provide this support on Schedule C Part IV or Form 4562 Part V will cause the e-file return to be rejected by the IRS.

If the vehicle is being depreciated: Input Return>Deductions>Depreciation>details button for that vehicle>Auto& Additional info> enter mileage information

If the vehicle is not being depreciated: Input Return>Deductions>Vehicle Emp Bus Expense (2106)>Select form and activity name, enter vehicle info and mileage info

Look under Inactive clients first, then under Settings>Manage & Invite users>Client Access to see if they come up there. If they don't come up in either place, come to tier 2.

Remember: we are able to restore entire clients that are missing, but if the client is showing but just the returns are missing because they deleted the return, we cannot restore deleted returns.

Customer has this diagnostic generating: "Form 8962: Household income on line 3 must equal the total of line 2a, Modified AGI, and 2b, dependents' modified AGI, for efile purposes. If the total of lines 2a and 2b are negative, zero will print on line 3 and this return will need to be filed as a conventional paper return. (ref. #42135)" What does this mean, and how would the customer deal with it?

If the AGI is negative and that is correct, then the return must be paper filed, per the diagnostic. This is due to IRS e-file rules.

Customer has a diagnostic generating saying that the partner percentages do not equal 100%. What troubleshooting steps are you going to take to find out what might be causing this diagnostic?

Double check the inputs under Input Return>Partner Information>Partner Percentages. If the amounts in each column add up to 100, see if they have inputs on the "Change in Ownership" input screen. If there are inputs on that screen, use the "How to enter a change in ownership on Form 1065 in ProConnect Tax" article to make sure the inputs are correct. incorrect dates can often cause this diagnostic

Customer says that the K-1s should not have the Statement A—QBI Pass-through Entity Reporting (Schedule K-1, Box 17, Code V) statements on page 3 of all the K-1's because the S Corporation does not qualify for QBI. How would this be removed?

Hint: the best way is just one checkbox

There are a couple ways:
Override each amount on each statement by going to Input Return>Schedule K-1>Schedule K-1 Overrides>Section 199A (QBI) Information tab>enter a -1 for each amount that is flowing to the K-1

OR the best way:

Input Return>Schedule K>Other Schedule K Items>Other Schedule K Items>Scroll about 2/3 of the way down>check the box "S corporation is Not a qualified trade or business "

A customer return has rejected due to incorrect dependent SSN. When you look up the Sub ID in EFE, you see this in the Field column: /efile:Return/efile:ReturnData/efile:IRS1040[1]/efile:DependentDetail[2]/efile:DependentSSN

Which Dependent is causing the rejection?

the second dependent. we know this because of the 2 after "DependentDetail[2]"
