Yes. As long as that inspection/diagnostic shows that a covered part/component was the cause of the issue.

Purchased a vehicle used and got it CPO, plus bought a protection plan.

Is this a 3rd party?

Yes. Technically, this coverage is with JM&A (Century Warranty Services). It's the same protection plan we offer to our customers who come in and purchase a vehicle with us, and our Service Advisors preferred provider. For context, GMC actually uses SafeGuard. So we've just had the best experience and prefer JM&A.
