When creating your post you will click on the paper clip icon and just search for your desired document to attach it to the post.

This symbol means that you can look through inactive records as well as active records

I can just go into my desired folder, follow the menu tab at the tab and click "Open in SharePoint"
What is the benefit of having a saved alert?
You do not need to keep re-creating the same alert every time you want to send it. You can create a scheduled alert or you can go into the saved alerts and launch a saved alert at any time.
