How often do we meet and when are the weekly sessions?
The weekly sessions take place once a week on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm.
What is my role as a pre-service teacher on Saturdays?
Attend the assigned classes and follow the pace schedule of the activities you have to lead.
Be receptive to feedback from your team teacher and be assertive to provide feedback as well.
Be attentive to your students' performance and help with classroom management.
What is my supervisor’s role in my practicum?
Schedule a weekly check in to have a follow up on your classes.
Plan and lead with you an assigned session about Colombo's methodology.
Observe your class and give you feedback.
Be attentive to any questions you may have.
Where do the weekly sessions take place and how long do they last?
The weekly sessions can take place f2f at any of the Colombo brances (Downtown, Niza, Calle 100), or mediated via zoom. The sessions last 2 hours. From 1 to 3 pm.
What are my responsibilities as a pre-service teacher during the week?
Attend and be ready for the weekly sessions.
Attend and be ready for the weekly check in and planning the session you will lead with your supervisor.
Attend and be proactive in the lesson planning sessions with your team teacher.
Who can I ask for help on Saturdays?
You can contact the PS (Permanent Substitute) of the shift your class takes place at.
You can contact the AS (Asistant Supervisor) of the branch you are assigned at.
You can ask your team teacher, your supervisor, Marcy and JC for any questions you may have.
What happens if I don’t attend or arrive late to one of the weekly sessions?
If you don't attend, it will count as an absence. You are allowed two absences to the weekly sessions. You must catch up with the content of the session you missed. With the third absence you won't be granted with the completion of the practicum process.
Three tardies will count as an absence.
What professional image is expected of me at the Colombo?
Be punctual.
Participate and ask questions.
Drop by the teachers' lounge regularly and participate in the planned activities such as potlucks, celebrations, etc.
Be respectful, say hello, get to know your colleagues and the Colombo team.
Keep your interactions professional. You are a teacher, not a student.

What happens if I don’t attend or arrive late to a Saturday class?
You will be requested to fill out a format to justify your absence or tardiness. With more than two absences, you won't be granted the completion of your practicum process.
Can I request permission / time off?
Yes, you have to fill out the permission request and send it to Mauricio Castañeda minimun 48 hours before your class. There is no need for a substitute but you have to inform your team teacher and supervisor of your absence in advance.
