Drugs should be legalised
EXAMPLE:
Drugs need to be mandated due to its addictive nature. The fact is, consuming drugs is not consensual even for the user. The addictiveness literally changes your brain chemistry. So the state has a responsibility to help the people sustain their autonomy by criminalizing drugs.
If I had the ability to, I would choose to be immortal
EXAMPLE:
Immortality comes at a great cost. Watching your friends, families and anyone you've ever cared about die, then watching the universe cease into nothing is extremely damaging. Eternal loneliness is not something I would intentionally opt into
We should shame parents who raised IPad children
EXAMPLE:
Parents who end up raising IPad children often don't have the means to raise a child without it. They may have many jobs, or are struggling to maintain a work-life balance. We shouldn't shame anyone who is already struggling.
Wearing slides without socks is better than wearing slides with socks
EXAMPLE:
We don't want to see your toes! It's general courtesy to prevent others from the foot odour too!
Reality TV shows are better than scripted TV shows
EXAMPLE:
Reality TV shows are heavily edited and scripted but marketed to be reality. This is REALLY damaging. Ie. false senses of reality etc...
We should eliminate political parties
EXAMPLE:
Political parties are able to keep individual politicians in check. There are many people who hold power within the party that can keep ONE individual in check
EXAMPLE:
Marriages for financial gain aren't all bad! Both parties can benefit greatly financially, someone's livelihood can be lifted and there are numerous benefits!
We should separate children not by how old they are but by academic ability
EXAMPLE:
this is VERY damaging to the development of children. Children who are learning at different paces feel the need of unhealthy comparison with peers their own age. Ie why is my friend who is the same age as I am in gr10 while im in gr6?
The death penalty should be abolished
EXAMPLE:
The death penalty is one of the best ways to establish deterrence in society. The thought of death and the way our society reacts to death is the best type of deterrence.
Disney classics are better than the live action remakes
EXAMPLE:
Live action remakes creates a more fantastical world. Bringing the fantasy into a more realistic version is just a whole other experience
EXAMPLE:
Democracy, especially current systems of democracy in Canada and the U.S is inherently corrupt. With things like lobbying, gerrymandering etc... and never being able to hold politicians accountable is just some of the many flaws our current system holds
We should prioritize standardized testing above all for university admissions
EXAMPLE:
Standardized testing neglects core aspects of an individual. For example, their interests and their home situation
We should ban all for-profit tutoring agencies, academies etc...
EXAMPLE:
profit incentivized tutoring agencies are able to hire more specialized professionals. Ie. supporting kids with learning disabilities, and more qualified teachers for better quality of education. This is because more qualified teachers want somewhere that pays more (independent academies will probably pay more than state funded tutoring services).
We should ban zoos
EXAMPLE:
Zoos protect animals. Animals who have lost their natural habitat and would otherwise die or be harmed by humans in other ways is now able safe and protected.
We should support New Jeans
Context: New Jeans is a new K-pop group with 5 members, in which no member is an adult (they are all minors) and the youngest member is 14 years old
EXAMPLE:
The kpop industry is inherently very toxic (ie beauty standards and insane amounts of hate given every day) and sexual. Minors should NOT be subjected to this negative environment nor should they be working in a sexualized environment.
We should prioritize economic development over all else
EXAMPLE:
While economic development is important, neglecting other fields like social development (ie bans on abortion, gay marriage etc...) and environmental development is JUST AS important. Otherwise we would literally die and/or have terrible qualities of life
The development of AI should be stopped
EXAMPLE:
Developing AI is directly related to scientific discovery. AND these potential discoveries could bring endless benefits to humanity
