What is the nervous system?
A network of specialized cells that carry info to and from parts of the body.
What is the CNS?
The central nervous system is part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord.
What is a neuron?
Cell that makes up the nervous system and receives and sends messages within the system
What is neuroplasticity?
Ability within the brain to constantly change the structure and function of many cells in response to experience or trauma.
What are branchlike structures that receive messages from other neurons.

What is a reflex arc?
The connection of afferent neurons to the interneurons to efferent neurons, resulting in reflexes.
What is myelin?
Fatty substance produced by glial cells that insulate, protect, and speed up neural impulse of neurons.
What is an efferent neuron?
A neuron that takes info from the central nervous system to the muscles.
What is an agonist?
Chemical substances that mimic or enhance the effects of a neurotransmitter on the receptor sites of the next cell, increasing or decreasing the activity of that cell.
What are Afferent neurons?
A neuron that takes info from the senses to the nervous system.
