What is the term for physical traits?
phenotype

Purple flowers (P) are dominant to white flowers. Write the genotype for a white flower.
If P = purple flowers and p = white flowers, then white flowers has a genotype of pp.

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Tall stems (T) are dominant to short stems. The offspring are all short stemmed. What are the genotypes of the parents?

If T = tall stem and t = short stem, then both parents are tt.

100

Long eyelashes (L) are dominant to having short eyelashes and tongue rolling (T) is dominant to not being able to roll tongue. The wife is homozygous dominant for long lashes and heterozygous for tongue rollling. The husband has short lashes and is homozygous dominant for tongue rolling. Write the parents genotypes.

If L = long lashes and l = short lashes and T = tongue rolling and t = no tongue rolling

then parent 1 is LLTt and parent 2 is llTT.

Enzymes are made of which macromolecule:

A) Carbohydrates

B) Proteins

C) Lipids

D) Nucleic Acids

B) Proteins

200
What is the term for the combination of alleles that parents pass to their offspring?
genotype
200
Tall stems (T) are dominant to short stems. Write the possible genotypes to represent tall stems
If you are using T for tall - TT or Tt
200

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Long hair (L) is dominant to short hair in cats. Two cats mate and always produce long haired kittens. One parent has short hair. What is the genotype of the other parent?

L = long hair and l = short hair. If one parent has short hair (ll), then the other parent must be LL to always have kids that have long hair.

Tall stems (T) are dominant to short stems and round seeds (R) are dominant to wrinkled seeds.

A parent is heterozygous for tall stems and has wrinkled seeds.

What are the 4 sets of alleles that should be written on the outside of the dihybrid punnett square?

Use 2 small punnett squares.

If T = tall stems and t = short stems and R = round seeds and r = wrinkled seeds

then the parent's genotype is Ttrr. The four sets of alleles are: Tr, tr, Tr, and tr.

The pH of Windex is 10. What type of solution is this? A) Acidic

B) Basic

C) Neutral

B) Basic

300
The term for having two identical alleles for a gene
homozygous

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Round seeds are dominant to wrinkled seeds. If two heterozygous round seeded plants cross, what is the probability in fractions that they would have wrinkled seeded offspring?

25%

Purple flowers (P) are dominant to white flowers and tall stems (T) are dominant to short stems. What is the phenotype for Pptt?

purple flowers and short stem

Get the punnett square from the teacher add tell her "Dihybrid Punnett squares for 300".

In rabbits, grey fur (G) is dominant to white fur (g) and black eyes (B) are dominant to red eyes (b).

Refer to the punnett square picture. What are the 2 missing genotypes in punnett square?

 bbDd and BbDd

300

Who is the founder of genetics?

Mendel

400
The term for a form of a trait
allele

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Having dimples is dominant to not having dimples. Create a punnet square of a parent that is homozygous dominant for dimples and a parent that is heterozygous for dimples. What is the probability in percent that they will have offspring that have no dimples?

0%

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Having brown eyes (B) is dominant to having green eyes (b) and having freckles (F) is dominant to not having freckles (f).

Refer to the picture to answer the question - In fractions, how many offspring will have brown eyes but no freckles?

4/16

In tomatoes red fruit (R) is dominant to yellow fruit (r) and tall vines (T) are dominant to short vines (t).

One parent is heterozygous for red fruit and heterozygous tall vines.

The other parent is homozygous for red fruit and has short vines

What are the parents' genotypes?

Parent 1: RrTt

Parent 2: RRtt

If I play music to plants everyday, then they will grow taller. What is the dependent variable of this hypothesis?

Height

500
The term for having two different alleles for a gene
heterozygous

Set the timer for 3 minutes.

Yellow seeds (Y) are dominant to green seeds. Two yellow seeded plants cross to have green seeded offspring. What are the parents' genotypes?

If Y = yellow seeds and y = green seeds, then both parents will be heterozygous (Yy and Yy)

Name a difference between mitosis and meiosis

Possible answers: mitosis produces 2 identical diploid cells and meiosis produces 4 different haploid cells. Mitosis divides somatic cells and meiosis divides gametes. Meiosis undergoes 2 divisions and mitosis goes through one division. Crossing over only occurs in meiosis, not mitosis.

If your answer is not shown above but you can prove it by finding it in your notes, then you can get the points.
