Safeguard is the OTC brand name for MAH’s fenbendazole product line equivalent to Panacur. Safeguard for dogs is only sold in the pre-measured packets and is identical to Panacur C.
Panacur C is registered as both an Rx and OTC product through the FDA; therefore, it can technically be sold as an OTC product. MAH has chosen to position the Panacur brand as the Rx product and Safeguard as the OTC product. (Panacur granules in the 1 lb. jar are prescription only).
