What is a headline?
A short phrase at the beginning of the story that tells readers what the story is about

A writing tool made from a feather of a bird

The opening paragraph of a news story that gives the most important information.

This type of news story focuses on current events and gives readers important and quick info.
What is alliteration?
The repetition of the same beginning sound in nearby words
What is a hyperbole?
An extreme exaggeration used for emphasis or effect.
What is an anthology?
Collection of poems, essays, stories, or other written works published together.
What is a journalist?
This person gathers information and writes stories for a newspaper, magazine, or new website.
What is a direct quote?
When a reporter uses the exact words someone else said.
This is a comparison between two things using like or as.
What is onomatopoeia?
A word that imitates the sound it describes.
What is a journal/diary?
This type of writing allows a person to record their private thoughts, experiences, and feelings.
What is objectivity?
This is the principle of reporting information accurately without intentionally favoring one side.

This part of a news article usually explains who the source is and where the info came from

When an object/animal/or idea is given human characteristics.
What is imagery?
The use of words that appeal to sight, sound, smell, taste or touch.
What is source confidentiality?
Keeping the identity of a person who provided information private and protected.
What is a scoop?
This term describes information that has not been published before and is revealed by a reporter
What is the inverted pyramid?
This journalism structure puts the most important information first, followed by less important details.
What is a sonnet?
This type of poem has 14 lines and is traditionally associated with love.
What is foreshadowing?
When a writer gives a clue about something that will happen later in the story.
