A college shares a list of 60+ interested students, but your city only has 15 available internship slots. What do you do?

Let's discuss?
It's up to you! Divide the 15 slots as you wish among your colleges, but you cannot exceed the available slots.

You set a deadline for applications, but the college POC/Student requests a 2-day extension. What would you consider before saying yes?

It's up to you!
Some things to consider are: whether the intern will be able to complete their hours within the quarter, gauge the seriousness of the student, etc.

The Fellow mentor assigned to the intern goes on a long leave mid-internship. What now?

Reach out to the city Program Team to reassign the intern to another Fellow. Ensure the intern’s hours and project work are still being tracked during the transition.
Keep Cibin in the loop!

A college POC requests an internship certificate for one student midway through the quarter. The student has only completed 35 hours. What do you say?

Inform them that certificates are only issued after 60 hours are completed and exit survey is filled. Share the timeline and encourage the intern to finish strong.

A student approaches you saying they’re enjoying the classroom so much that they want to do more than 50 hours. Can they?

Yes, they absolutely can! But the hours must still be completed within the same quarter, and they should log everything with the mentor. Overcommitment must be monitored so quality doesn’t drop.

A student hasn’t completed their CPP policy review within 48 hours and their application is paused. What do you do?

The usual response is to ask them to wait for the next openings.

However, they can email us to request reactivation (if within a short grace period). We need to follow the system’s compliance protocol strictly.

An intern is unable to complete their orientation due to continuous internet issues. They’re now past the 7-day deadline. What’s the best course of action?

Ask them to try again in the next quarter based on availability.

An intern emails stating that they’re overwhelmed with college and wish to quit the internship after 3 weeks. What steps do you take?

Reach out to Cibin for next steps,
They have to fill the alternate exit survey, inform the Fellow, and ensure data is logged in Salesforce. Offer a quick debrief and thank them for their effort. Also, check if they’d like to return in a future cycle.
They will not receive a certificate.

A college wants to tag Teach For India and post photos of interns working in classrooms. What precautions should you take?

Coordinate with the TFI communications team to ensure branding guidelines and child protection norms (Certain cities like Chennai, they have to take prior permissions from schools) are followed. Interns and Fellows must have permissions in place before any photos are posted.

An intern misses one full week of school visits due to exams. They’re now at risk of not meeting 50 hours. Should they be disqualified?

NO. They can still catch up by increasing weekly hours in later weeks, as long as it remains in the same quarter and is coordinated with the Fellow.

An intern tells you their Fellow mentor hasn't connected at all after placement. Should you intervene?

Ask if they have contacted the Fellow mentor. If not, encourage them to do so asap.
If they are not getting a response, log it in the breakdown sheet and tag Cibin.

The college requests that internships go on for two extra weeks into the next quarter to align with their academic calendar. Do you say yes?

NO. The internship timeline is bound by our quarterly cycle and must align with reporting and certification deadlines. Offer a fresh cycle instead.
