Convection currents in the mantle. The magma under the crust flowing up as it heats and back down as it cools

Because of the divergent boundary in the middle, in 500 million years the Atlantic Ocean will be wider and the distance between North America and Africa will increase (when trying to fly this direction). Therefore, it will take longer because you are flying a greater distance
