In the midst of a battle against an adult red dragon, it uses its fiery breath attack, forcing the level 13 party to make dexterity saving throws. Mordred the Sorcerer fails with a 14, Anser the Rogue fails at a 19, and Josiah the Paladin succeeds with a 22. Mordred and Anser take the full 63 fire damage, while Josiah takes only 31.
As a level 8 rogue, Anser already has the evasion skill, meaning he should still take only have damage despite his failed roll.
This kind of save is typically made to resist most dragons' breath weapon.
Dexterity
Which goddess is known as the lord of murder and is worshiped by many drow.
Lolth
This kind of player is usually frowned upon. They are characterized by their tendency to kill every NPC they encounter.
What is a Murder Hobo
Grung? Grung grung grung, grung.
Grung.
A displacer beast corners a town guard. He attempts to flee the area but bumps into the beasts duplicate and is unable to get away as they get within striking distance. He readies his crossbow and fires at the displacer beast, rolling a lucky 14 on his die and hitting the beast with the bolt.
1. The duplicate is technically illusory and can be passed through without issue.
2. Within striking distance, a crossbow should have disadvantage on the roll, though this is not specified.
3. (optional) it isn't specifically stated that there are other obstacles so the guard should still be able to flee even if cornered, he would simply take an attack of opportunity.
When the spell "Polymorph" is cast on a PC or NPC, what attributes are retained and what is replaced by what they turn into?
The Character retains their personality and alignment but all game statistics are replaced by the creatures stats.
Elves can be found almost everywhere in the upper and material planes, but the plane that they originated from is called this.
What is the Feywild
The DM does this to ensure that the party stays on track for the story, often taking away some or all player agency.
Quicklings are fast, very fast. These little fey bastards are hard to hit let alone catch. But what exactly is their movement speed?
120ft
The party approaches a locked chest. The rogue declares that they will take the following actions:
1. Cast mage hand and pick the lock using their thieves tools.
2. Check for traps with an investigation check with their modifier of +3, rolling a natural 20 on the dc 25 check and finding a hidden trap.
3. Read the thieves cant on the chest which describes the exact contents of the chest.
1. Mage hand cannot be used with complex commands and utilities like thieves tools.
2. A nat 20 out of combat does not automatically mean a critical success despite what everyone does, even baldur's gate. It would just be a 20 + 3 which does not pass the dc.
3. Thieves cant is usually not that specific. It is a language used to convey basic info between theives.
Lair actions and environmental hazards usually have an initiative count of this...
Lair actions have an initiative count of 20
Helm has a lot of fun facts about him, but did you know he actually killed a god? Which god did he kill?
(double points: Why did he kill this god?)
He killed Mystra, goddess of magic
She was slain in an attempt to return to the divine realms after the gods had been punished for stealing important artifacts from Ao.
This NPC is often used to railroad the party and is often overpowered or a Mary Sue.
What is the DMPC
Beholders are the quintessential D&D monster, but do you know how they are born?
Double points: What is the lesser known method?
A beholder dreams another beholder into existence
(double points: Beholders can be born through a womb under a beholder's tongue, which swells until the beholder spits it out, bites it off, and the babies chew their way out.)
The party sneaks through a dark cavern past a group of orcs, carrying their unconscious paladin with them. The ranger casts pass without a trace to cover their whole party. The rogue, carrying their heavily armored friend, rolls a 25 on stealth, allowing the whole party to easily pass through unnoticed. As they reach the other end, they find a locked door. Luckily, the wizard silently casts knock to unlock it and pass through with ease.
1. pass without a trace does not apply to unconscious creatures.
2. dragging a person in heavy plate should not only take a strength check, especially from a class like rogue, but should also give disadvantage on stealth.
3. The rogue's 25 does not apply to the whole party, everyone must roll and pass the dc individually.
4. Knock requires a verbal component and makes a loud knocking sound that can be heard from 300ft away, it cannot be done silently.
A player rolls an attack with advantage, but rolls two 3s. They decide to use the inspiration the DM gave them and roll a 15. The DM says that a 15 still misses so the player decides to use their luck points, rolling a 12, a 9, and a 19, finally hitting. But wait, Which roll do they use?
Since the outcome of the roll was announced by the DM after the player rolled a 15, that is the roll used, luck points must be rolled before the outcome is a announced.
Frizzerfraz unfortunately has little written lore, but his parents are named. What are their names?
Wizzerazz and Izzerazz
What is the term for when the DM allows a player's wild of unexpected plan to succeed despite it bending or breaking the rules in order to preserve immersion or promote creativity.
What is the Rule of Cool
It would be a crime not to ask about dragons. How many official chromatic and metallic dragons exist (not counting fizban's treasury of dragons which expands this significantly)
there are 5 types of Chromatic dragons and 5 types of Metallic dragons.
The party is facing off against a group of bandits in an open plain. The barbarian runs into the fray, swinging their axe but missing. They then decide to use a reckless attack on their second attack and score a hefty hit on the bandit captain. The goblin ranger fires his bow, hitting a bandit flanking the barbarian. He activates Fury of the small to increase the damage, killing the bandit. The Sorcerer uses twinned spell to cast two fireballs at two groups of bandits, but seeing that their fighter and barbarian will get caught in the blaze, they activate careful spell so they dont take any damage. Finally, the rogue uses her cunning action to dash and hide as a bonus action, running up behind the bandit leader and delivering a massive critical hit, adding her sneak attack damage and killing the final enemy.
1. reckless attack may only be activated on the first attack of the barbarians turn.
2. Twinned spell can only be used on spells that target a specific creature, fireball is not one of them.
3. Metamagic features cannot be used twice or with other metamagic features in the same turn unless specified. Twinned spell cannot be used in the same turn as careful spell.
4. Careful spell does not nullify damage, it only allows allies to succeed the saving throw.
5. You cannot use cunning action to both dash and hide in one turn. It costs a bonus action.
At level 17 a thief takes two actions at the beginning of every combat. However they do not take these turns back to back. During the first round, they take a turn on their normal initiative and when else?
Their two turns are on their normal initiative and on their initiative -10.
Oh no! I've dropped my chart of the outer planes and their corelated alignments! can you help me match each plane to its respective alignment? You only have to get 10 correct.
