What is the most common drug you will encounter on campus, and why?

Marijuana. Marijuana has a noticeable aroma, and is prohibited by Drexel policy and Federal Law.

Who is allowed to have alcohol in their space?

Residents over 21+ are permitted to have alcohol in their space. If sharing a suite with residents under 21, alcohol is not permitted in common areas.

*3-D printed weapons/Airsoft rifles/pistols (ammunition including rounds, casings, shells, clips, magazines, cartridges, and paint pellets/Bows, crossbows, and arrows)
*Brass knuckles/Dangerous knives/Decorative swords
*Projectile weapons triggered by air, gas, explosion, or mechanical means                                          *Make shift weapons/Pellet or BB guns/Stun guns or Tasers
*Mace is NOT considered a weapon, but misuse within a residence hall could result in Student Conduct follow-up

RAs should notify RD/RD on Duty (Pending need) of parent outreach. RA will notify parent that information has been passed to appropriate party. RAs should never disclose information about a resident.

RDs are called to the scene only for medical transports. If support is needed for extremely uncooperative residents

Drexel guest policy states..

A roommate of a student reports that a student has not been to class in a week, and has been sleeping all day. What is your next step?

RA should consult their RD, and if necessary, RA will set a time to meet with student, go over available resources, and submit an IR detailing the conversation.

What steps are taken while the RD is in route to the reported scene?

* One RA must pull the floor's submaster for access to the room, and meet the RD at the front desk.

*One RA must maintain eyes on the room, but does not engage the residents within the room or in the hallway.

What are 6 things that could indicate the need for a alcohol-related medical transport?

*Unresponsive student, throwing up, inability to communicate with RAs on scene, slurred speech, inability to stand and/or an alcohol related injury.

What is the Drexel noise policy?

Quiet hours are 10pm to 10am Sun-Thur, 12am-10am Fri-Sat, 24 hours during final weeks. However, courtesy hours are in effect all the time, and disruptive sounds/music should be handled immediately.

What is the RDAP policy? 

The RDAP policy protects residents of concern in situations that contain alcohol or drugs, by encouraging them to get needed aid without conduct repercussions, however, conduct will follow up with all students involved.

You have concerns over a resident's drinking habits. What should you do? 

RA should bring concerns to their RD, and talk about behaviors observed and potential next steps.

Who is handling a drug search on scene? 

RDs must be on scene for a drug search to occur, and RD will lead search with a DUPD officer. RAs can point out items of concern, but should not guide the search.

What happens to the alcohol found in the room?

The host or resident who purchased/possessed the alcohol is responsible for pouring out the alcohol, under RA supervision, and then disposing of the bottles in the hall trash. RAs should never touch the alcohol.

What steps are taken during a fire alarm?

RDC/RD/RA will grab Fire Alarm Checklist from Front Desk area, and exit building with all items listed on checklist.

Call RD on Duty to report the fire alarm.

Direct residents to rally location

Assist RD & Front Desk checking residents back into building

Submit narrative about incident if RD present.

In after hours scenarios, who can a student in distress contact? Does an RA need to be there for this contact to be made?

Counselor on call is available 24/7 to all Drexel students. Students should have this number, and do not need to be present for its utilization.

What steps are taken when a students ceiling is leaking? What steps are taken when a student sees a cockroach? 

For ceiling leaks (Major), RAs would notify facilities through public safety of issue. RAs should submit work order detailing issue and unresolved needs. Notify RD to assess facility issue for further steps.

For cockroach- assist resident in submitting a work order for treatment. Recommend Raid.

*Taking active notes of items seen, statements made, intensity of smell.

What are the main priorities during an alcohol incident? 

* RAs are to record ID information on all residents involved and present.
* RA will document in full detail all alcohol present in the space.
* RAs will coordinate removal of all alcohol from space.
* RAs will escort all guests out of space and inform residents guests are not permitted in the building for the evening.

How do you handle a bias related vandalism issue?

Report type of bias related vandalism to RD on duty, RD on duty responds to scene, RAs and RD document bias incident, RA on duty submits report with narratives to EIC. RD will engage with students impacted if students are present, or if students reported observed vandalism. RAs may be asked to cover over vandalism while issue is addressed by facilities.

When should the RD on Duty be notified of Students of Concern?

*When students state intention or thoughts of self harm, past or present.
*Roommates/Suitemate concerns that are biased in nature.
*Threats of danger to self or others.

*Reported EIC concerns

A resident reports a Sexual Assault that occurred two months prior. What information is given to the student, and what are your next steps?

RAs should remind student they are a mandated reporter, and this information would go up but not out. RAs would offer support while one RA reaches out to the RD on duty for next steps.
