Mary is a current first-year PhD student in HKU who needs to take a course on thesis writing. One of the assignments of this course was to write a literature review. She was happy that she had written a perfect research proposal to apply for the HKU PhD programme and succeeded. So she used a large part of the contents (the background information) of this proposal directly to write the review, which saved her a lot of time. After the course ended, she was informed she was not able to pass this course, why?
