REQUEST A CHANGE TO THE TITLE PROCESS
When a customer has a name change such as marriage or divorce the title does not need to be changed to reflect the new name, the customer will be able to make any necessary changes once they receive their PIF title. However, if the customer is adamant about changing their last name on the title (marriage or divorce only) then we can accommodate the request.
The CSC should attempt to have the DMV fax or mail the request directly to the Title Supplier. If a written request can't be sent directly to the Title Supplier then the CSC should create a case using the following:
In order for the Title Supplier to complete the transaction the customer's new name must be updated in Advantage and the case comments will need to include why the title is being sent and the DMV's address. (The Title Supplier will not send the title to the customer.)
The Title Supplier will have to first order the paper title from the state before it can be sent out. Once they receive the paper title they will fulfill the name change request and forward the paper title to the requesting DMV.
If the customer requests to change their name on the account, how do you handle the call?
Advise the customer to include their account number on the documentation that they fax over so that the account may be identified.
