A dorm event where the residence hall partners with another office of Lee Campus (Yanno, those offices you're going to visit during the tour on Friday, wink wink). Not another Residence Hall
Can professional conferences be used for RDs?
What does a visitation violation in the dorm?
Visitation violations would include anyone not living in the dorm being in the building outside of visitation hours (Sun-Thur 11am-12am; Fri & Sat 11am-1am) or the opposite gender being in a bedroom at any time.
During on-duty hours, the RD will escort the student out of the building and take down student IDs of all parties involved. They then write an incident report on the situation.
Outside of on-duty hours, the on-call RD handles these responsibilities.
What are the 3 committees that RAs are broken up into.
Intramurals, Social Media, Service (Typically they keep track of birthdays)
What is Dorm Wars?
Dorm Wars is the biggest department-wide event RLH hosts. The male dorms compete against each other, and the female dorms compete in partnerships (upper and underclassmen dorms) against other female dorms. The categories include decor, intro dance, obstacle course, and mystery event.
What are the RD programming requirements per semester?
Fall: August Welcome Event; Partnership Event; Dorm-Wide Event; Dorm Wars Nights
Spring: Dorm-Wide Event; Service Event; Spiritual Event w/ RCs
What boundaries can an RD implement to help with balancing work life and personal life?

How do curfew violations work for the dorms?
The RD will be CC'd on emails from the RAs for violations. The RD needs to make sure there is a spreadsheet to record these violations on.
What are good office hour tasks for RDs to assign the RAs?
Make sure the office door is always open during their hour to let residents in.
Common tasks are checking laundry rooms, doing Dorm Wars tasks, work orders for common areas, putting up advertising flyers, completing any needed reports, Friday Emails (If RA does it).

What is a "To My Replacement"?
A long document, in the Resident Director OneDrive, from the previous RD of the dorm you are over. It should contain tips and information specific to your dorm.
What's an RD gotta do for a day off, around here?
1. Check which RD is the back-up on call on the OneDrive spreadsheet
2. Ask that RD to cover your building for the day(s) you are requesting off
2a. If that RD cannot, ask another RD who will be on campus at the time.
3. Email Chris Montgomery to request the day(s) you are wanting to take off and CC the RD that has agreed to cover your building those days.
4. ALWAYS inform your RA/RC staff who will be over your building on your days off once the days are approved
5. Have everything done that you can for those days before you leave
What weekly meetings does an RD have to attend?
Business Meeting, RA/RC Team Meeting, Departmental Committee Meetings, Dorm Wars Committee Meetings (In the Fall), 1-on-1s with RA/RCs (Half the staff per week), 1-on-1 with Chris Montgomery (Every other week).
What is Team Meeting/Team Time?
Team Time is a two hour meeting that you hold with your RA/RC staff weekly. RCs are only required to be there for one of the two hour meeting, so plan accordingly.

When is it good to follow dorm-specific traditions vs forging your own path?
You're the RD, so it's up to you It's always good to ask your RA/RC staff if there are any traditions that are important to them. Otherwise, do your thing!

How do RDs handle accountability hours?
RDs can assign accountability hours for excessive or egregious policy violations that have no fines attached (specifics in Student Handbook). Once the dorm accountability hours reach 10 hours, the student will have to meet with student conduct.
Residents can work off hours with the RD through 1-on-1s with RA or RD, cleaning the dorm, helping plan programming, etc.
What does Team Time consist of?
During Team Time, you can focus on information/events specific to your building, department-wide events, team bonding, spiritual development, RA/RC “Who Am I” Presentations, committee work, and any other activities or information you would like to go over with your team. Reminder: Agendas are a must :)))

What can RDs use LeeUConnect for?
Programming approval, creating events, advertising events, programming assessments, sending emails, taking attendance at events and meetings.

What are the on-call hours for RD throughout the week?
Weekday Back-up on call: 8am-8pm (From 11am-8pm refer calls to appropriate RDs of their buildings)
Weekend on-call: Friday 5pm - Sunday 8pm
How do RDs handle roommate conflict in their dorm?
1. Make sure the roommates have already tried talking it out.
2. If this talk fails, the RA needs to be present during the talk but does not fully mediate.
3. Have the RA run a mediation with the roommates if the conflict is still unresolved. Make sure they use the roommate agreement (if they do not have one, make one ASAP).
4. Only if all 3 of these things fail does the RD get involved with mediating the conflict.
5. If literally all else fails, talks about moving rooms can be brought up as an option. NOTE: If there is a safety issue, then temporary housing can be granted before the previous 4 steps are complete.
What should you do during Team Time during August Training?
This time can set the tone for your team for the year, so going over the vision for your building or explaining your heart for why you do what you do and asking them the same is important for staff bonding. This is also a vital time to start planning for dorm wars, scheduling on-call schedules, reviewing systems specific to your building: room check, curfew check, sociograms, scheduling one-on-ones and office hours, etc.
How do I decide my building’s dorm wars theme?
-Ask for suggestions from your RA/RC Team. Oftentimes, they will come to training with theme ideas because they LOVE dorm wars.
-It is not required but incorporating your building’s name is also fun. Ex: ShreKDavis
-Collaborate with your partner dorm if in a partnership (female dorms only).
