  • Destruction of the Army: Once the Israelites passed safely, the waters were released, causing the chariots and soldiers of Pharaoh’s army to be overwhelmed and drowned in the sea.

Why do you think it is important to follow the Ten Commandments?

God is holy. Holiness is part of God’s very being. The Ten Commandments are part of God’s expression of His holiness and the standard He requires in order to have a relationship with Him. Another important reason is that they are Jesus’ teachings. Read Matthew 4:4. “Every word” of God includes the Ten Commandments. We are to live by every word. Read Matthew 1 9:1 6-1 7.

  • Rahab believed the Lord had given the land to the Israelites. She expressed faith that their God was the true God of heaven and earth and sought safety for her family, asking for kindness in return.

  • The Outcome: Rahab hid the spies on her roof, lied to the king's men about their location, and helped them escape through a window in the city wall. The spies promised to protect her family if she hung a red rope in her window, a promise that was kept when the city fell.
