In the 1800’s, many settlers traveled on the 2,000–mile long Oregon Trail. The trip was very challenging. The trail stretched from Missouri to Oregon and took 4–6 months to complete the journey. There was little or no room for more than one or two people to ride in the wagon, so most had to walk the whole way! Some people died from sickness or fatigue.

However, that is why secret passageways and all kinds of fancy traps were designed to catch robbers who tried to break into the pyramid to rob it. Tropical rainforests have layers of life. The uppermost layer is called the canopy. There are tall trees and monkeys. Below the treetops is a second layer, called the understory. The Vikings were superb shipbuilders, sailors, and craftsmen. They built boats called Longships, which could be anywhere from 52 feet to 121 feet long. However, the Vikings built them in a way that made them easy to steer and land on beaches. This helped them in travelling far distances.

The Revolutionary War was a war in which the Thirteen Colonies rebelled against the British. King George III of England placed many new laws against the colonies that were not beneficial to the Americans. For example, The Stamp Act taxed non-British imported goods and many daily items such as newspapers. The colonists eventually started rebelling. One way they did this was through the Boston Tea Party. Soon enough, the Revolutionary War began.

Galileo Galilei was an Italian scientist who made discoveries about our solar system and astronomy in general. He created a telescope with around 3x magnification. He later improved them to make telescopes with around 30x magnification. With these telescopes, Galileo was able to observe the skies in ways previously not achieved.

People live in many areas of the United States. However, these areas can be divided into three main categories: urban, suburban, and rural areas. Urban areas are cities and have many tall buildings close together. Suburban areas surround cities. There are not as many buildings as there are in cities. Rural areas are areas with large amounts of open land and buildings are very spread out.
