We are so close to the end of the school year. I began thinking about it the other day and became so sad. I thought about how much I will miss my students when they go to Middle School. I thought to myself, "Will I ever get to see them again?" then accidently said outloud, "I better!!" before I could realize I was day dreaming. Everyone looked at me like I was talking to an imaginary friend.

What does main idea mean?
The most important or central thought of a paragraph. Tells the reader what the text is about.
Write an elaboration to finish this paragraph (Below is the opinion statement, reason, and evidence)
In my opinion, schools should not allow phones in school because they could be used as a distraction and it could cause a lot of bullying here at school.
Cell phones are usually a distraction outside of school, could you imagine if they were used in school as well? In the article, WJPS News in paragraph 6, it says, "Cell phones in the classroom will serve as a distraction to kids learning. If cell phones were allowed in schools very few students would actually pay attention to what is being taught. Why would they pay attention when they could be talking with friends in another school or class, surfing the web, or playing games. The cell phones in the classroom would only cause a distraction and student’s grades would greatly suffer."
When writing a good elaboration, you need to make a real world connection and then connect it back to the text. Did they do this? Do you think it was a strong elaboration? Could you ask "why is that important?", "so what?", "why?", "how?" (If you can it's not strong enough)
