A songlike narrative poem, usually featuring rhyme, rhythm, and refrain.

The emotional meaning associated with a word (can be positive or negative).
What is connotation?
The conflict is resolved and the story is brought to a close.
What is the resolution?
A 5-line, rhymed, rhythmic verse, usually humorous.
What is a limerick?
The sun can damage your skin so you should wear sunblock.
What is problem and solution?
Giving clues to hint at coming events in a story.
What is foreshadowing?
The beginning of the story that tells who the characters are, and what their conflict is.
What is the Exposition?
A 17-syllable, delicate, unrhymed Japanese verse usually about nature.
What is a haiku?
These kinds of words help signify the organizational pattern (ex: however, first, then, in addition)
What are transition or signal words?
The implication, through plot or character, that the actual situation is quite different from that presented.
What is irony?
The incident that introduces the conflict in a story, it may have occurred before the story opens.
