Since inferencing requires you use background knowledge and text evidence to come to an educated conclusion, will the answer be stated directly in the text?
NO!!! Don’t choose an answer for an inferencing question that is a quote or paraphrase of the text itself.
Why should you chunk the text?
It breaks the reading into smaller pieces so you remember to give your brain a break and annotate.
