What are morals?
One of the main parts of a book. They are usually numbered or have titles.
What are chapters?
Information from a text that hints at a word's meaning.
What are context clues?
The reason for acting a certain way that may change.
What is motivation?
People and animals in stories.
What are characters?
Two goats cross a bridge from opposite ends. They meet in the middle and neither is willing to budge. So, they fall into the river and die.
The moral of this story is...
If someone doesn't compromise both people can suffer.
Chapter 1: A girls was in the supermarket when she saw a dog destroying a store. The manager wanted to get rid of the dog, but she said that the dog belonged to her.
Chapter 2: The girl took the dog home to her father to see if he could stay with them. The father agreed as long as she take care of him.

The girl began to clean the dog up and feed him.

Mathew went to a theme park for his birthday. He couldn’t wait to ride the new roller coaster because he was finally tall enough. After he got there, he realized the coaster was broken down and going to be closed the rest of the day. He decided to go on a ride his little sister wanted to go on instead. They had a great time together and ended the day with ice cream cones.
How did Matthew respond to the challenge?
Matthew felt fine with the ride being closed. He still had a great time.

Being greedy can bring your luck to an end.
Chapter 1: A big bad wolf saw three little pigs. He was so very hungry, and had a taste for some pork.
Chapter 2: He decided to visit the pig with a house made of straw. He blew it down and ate the pig. He visited the pig with a house made of sticks, blew it down and ate the pig. He then got to the pig with the house made of bricks.
What happened in chapter 3?
In chapter 3, the wolf could not blow the house down and he couldn't eat the pig.

It was the day of the big test and Mrs. Allen wasn’t at school. They had a substitute and she told them Mrs. Allen was sick. The students couldn’t believe it since it was such an important day. They decided to try their best and make their teacher proud. The next day when she came back, she apologized for being out and rewarded them with extra recess for all their hard work and good behavior while she was away.
How did the students respond to the challenge in the story?
Even though their teacher was gone, they decided to do their best and make her proud.
Sarah and Ben are on the same kickball team. Sarah is the star player. Ben is new to the team and is still learning how to play. Last week, Sarah sprained her ankle. The team was very sad to have her out of the next game. Ben decided to practice really hard the entire next week. When game day finally arrived, he scored the winning point. Everyone was so happy that Ben joined the team! Sarah was thankful that they won without her.
How did Ben respond to the challenge in the story?
Ben stepped up and practiced really hard and he scored the winning point.
King Midas loves gold so much, he asks a fairy to grant his wish that everything he touches turns to gold. He's very happy until he touches his daughter and she turns to gold.

Be careful what you wish for.

They were getting almost 25 new students and had nowhere for them to go. However, the school did have two computer rooms, and one of them wasn’t getting used that often.
How do you think Principal Vann should respond to this challenge?
Principal Vann should make one of the computer rooms a classroom.
Chapter 1: Scientist discovered aliens on Planet Z.
Chapter 2: The only way they were able to get close to the aliens is by wearing a special space suit.

The scientists dressed in the special suit to get closer to the aliens.
In this fable, the ant saves food for the winter and the grasshopper does not. When winter comes, the hungry grasshopper begs for food, but the ant refuses to share.

Make sure you are prepared for the future.
Chapter 1: The students in Ms. Nelson's class was waiting on their substitute teacher to come in the classroom.
Chapter 2: Students were going to be on their best behaviors because Ms. Nelson promised them a treat when she returned to school.

He also told her she shouldn’t be around other kids for a few days.
