A routine task or duty your obligated to perform, often one that is unpleasant but necessary.

Why does the program require each resident fill out and pass in a schedule weekly to their case manager?

Residents sign consent forms to enter treatment at the program. Part of the consents is monitoring (aka schedule), which essentially is "accountability" for your time weekly once off of orientation, during your six-month treatment stay.

Why are goals important in recovery?

Goal setting is a vital part of recovery from substance use disorders and mental health conditions. It helps individuals create a new and improved mindset for who they want to become.

Why do you think you have been assigned a new chore for every month you are here at the program?

To help you develop a sense of responsibility, accountability and structure in your daily life while in the program which is crucial for maintaining sobriety and successfully reintegrating into society by learning to manage everyday tasks.

Why is it important to be consistent with taking a medication?

Poor medication adherence can alter the effectiveness of a treatment plan or lead to development of other health issues.  Also improves the quality of life and may even be lifesaving.

Why is it crucial to follow the schedule of the program daily?

1. As a resident you signed an agreement to adhere to all requirements of the program.

2. The decision will be on the resident to earn either a completion or graduation of the program. 

3. Failure to follow protocol of program requirements can result in discharge of program.

Provide a few examples of some goals made in recovery?

Develop coping skills, build support network, therapy, training, schooling, employment, reconnecting with loved ones, etc...

Will I have to rely on coping skills for the remainder of my sobriety?

Yes, it has been proven that coping skills have been learned and then embedded in the brain to push forward when coping.

Why is it important to have quality, recovery based and healthy choices (besides medical appts) on your weekly schedule?

Once again, the whole point of being held accountable not only to the program but to yourself so when you enter the community on your own, you will be able to handle any situation and obligation on a weekly basis.

Is there such a thing as over medicated?

Yes, it is important to keep track of all your symptoms as you are prescribed your medications and report it to your doctor. Discuss short/long term goals for meds and compare at different appointments throughout.  It is easy to overlook med overload when attending other appointments due to focusing on different ailments.
