What are our 2 philanthropies?
Girl Scouts and PCAA
What kind of questions should you ask during recruitment?
Open ended questions! This gives the PNM the chance to talk and keep the conversation flowing.
What frats do you hang out with?
We do events with all different Greek organizations! We pair up with different organizations for fun events like homecoming, philanthropy events, etc. We love the entire Greek community!
My boyfriend isn't in a fraternity and he doesn't like Greek life.
In this answer, tell her everything that the chapter does that is worthwhile. You can explain that Greek Life has many opportunities for growth and support and does not fall into the stereotypes he might be thinking of.
Not all sisters have boyfriends who are greek or who even understand/support greek life.
What ties our 2 philanthropies together?
Confidence!
What are the 5 B's?
1. Boys
2. Booze
3. Bush
4. Bucks
5. Bible
Do I have to live in the house?
Living in the house is a privilege!
If you lived in the house: talk about your favorite memories, why you love/loved living in the house, all the perks.
If you haven't lived in the house: I never got the opportunity to live in the house, but (insert fun memory you have at the house)
I have heard bad things about KD and was wondering if they're true.
At this point, the response should focus on the good things that the chapter does by addressing the concerns of the PNM.
If, for example, the PNM brings up that the chapter has a low GPA, the chapter member should emphasize positives of the situation. She should share how the chapter is handling its scholastic woes (a study buddy program and incentives for those that make good grades, etc.).
What are KD's values?
Confidence, sisterhood, philanthropy, scholarship, academic success, financial literacy.
We should do what % of the listening and talking?
80% listening, 20% talking?
How much are dues?
I don't remember off the top of my head, but the specifics are in the pamphlet your SRC gave to you!
I don't know if I have enough time.
The response should include information about the PNM’s chief interest and how she spends her time. Chances are she will find that she has a great deal more time than she thinks.
Sorority members will have an easier time adjusting to the rigorous time demands of having a job, supporting a family, and having personal time once they are out of school by learning time management skills taught through KD.
Going to football games, eating meals and studying are activities experienced by all collegians—but KD’s do these same things with their sisters.
Who founded PCAA?
Our very own KD sister, Donna Stone!
What type of listening should we be doing?
Active listening!
Components of active listening:
Body language
Maintain eye contact
Lean forward and nod when appropriate when she’s speaking to show that you’re listening
Name memorization
Repeating the PNM’s name in conversation shows that you’re listening and will help her feel special
Promoting KD
Highlight benefits or selling points when it is appropriate and relevant to what the PNM is saying
How are you guys handling COVID?
We take the health and safety of our sisters and the community seriously. We've been doing really fun virtual events, and in person events when it's safe! (Insert fun memory of a virtual event)
I don't know if I can afford it.
WARNING! This objection raises a red flag. If the PNM honestly cannot pay her bills, the chapter is better off not pledging her.
However, many PNMs think sorority women are wealthy and/or do not have a clear understanding of the financial obligations. The response must outline financial obligations of membership. It is helpful to break down the cost in daily terms.
What do we volunteer for PCAA and the Girl Scouts?
We FUNDRAISE for PCAA, and volunteer our time with the Girl Scouts?
Why did YOU choose KD?
:) <3
Will being in a sorority effect my grades?
We prioritize being students as the most important thing. One of Kappa Delta's values is academics, and we have a ton of resources such as study groups, tutoring, and study hours to help everyone stay on track. It's also really helpful to be able to talk to older sisters in your major for advice!
Play this to our advantage!
We wanted to give everyone a fair chance, and only picking and choosing which PNMs we wanted to reach out to isn't fair or inclusive.
